My wife and I purchased a new XRAY. The quality of the tires that came with the car was disgusting - light snow or ice turned any trip around the city into a complete torture. After consulting with friends, I decided to purchase Goodyear. 4 wheels for 15 thousand seemed like a pretty reasonable price, especially with free tire fitting. The way back home brought completely different emotions; I didn’t feel sorry for the money spent on buying a new car. The new tires easily coped with the mess of wet snow. The tires also coped well with subsequent trips out of town and struggles with loose snow. Very quiet, my wife and I are happy. Goodyear UltraGrip Ice 2 tires have a shore hardness of 56 - for example, a washing machine has a hardness of 50 and a chewing gum has a hardness of 20. Buy and you won't regret it, I spent a month choosing tires to avoid mistakes. I didn't consider studs at all. Somehow, the roads are cleaned, and rattling on asphalt is not very appealing. Although, there is an advantage of studs: starting on ice. Personally, I don't regret spending money on this model; winter is long and there are various situations. The price is reasonable compared to other brands. If it were cheaper, I might have gone for Fulda. The tires are great. I tested them in snow about 15-20 cm deep at -12 degrees, and I never got stuck. In first gear, the car pushes the snow with the bumper. They don't harden in the cold. Today it's +3, the snow is falling apart and slushy, but the tires are performing excellently. On packed ice, I tested braking and acceleration; all movements are predictable and clear for the driver. I intentionally made a sharp steering maneuver and accelerated on ice, and the car slid a little but then returned to its lane. So the studless tires work 100%. Previously, I had FULDA, which was fine, but a couple of times I had to use a shovel to clear around the wheels. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but the tread height can be made 9mm, I measured it as 8mm.
