I am the owner of Koss UR40 with the inscription Titanium. Inside there are 40 mm speakers with a silver cone. Now on the site in the characteristics the size of the speaker is indicated as 52 mm, and the photo shows that there is no Titanium inscription. If so, then Koss UR40 Titanium and Koss UR40 are completely different headphones with different sound. If someone compared the sound of the old and new versions, write about your impressions koss UR40 (Titanium) has a nice soft sound. Low frequencies are closer in character to bass-reflex sound (these headphones are not for rock and heavy music). Mids and highs are smooth with good detail. The design is perfect: they sit on the head perfectly, no weight is felt at all. No pressure on the head or on the ears. Since they are open type, external noise factors affect listening comfort. And with an increase in volume above average, distortion begins in the low frequency range. |

I bought the headphones 3 years ago. I purchased them for everyday use, listening to them on the computer, on the stereo system, and on the iPod shuffle. After four months of use, the right speaker started rattling, but it was repaired under warranty and everything was OK. Two years into use, one of the four fasteners on the mesh came off and the wire broke at the connection with the plug - but these were all minor issues. They replaced the entire wire with a new one for me. At first glance, the headphones may seem fragile, but in fact, they have a fairly sturdy construction, and the old wire was strong. They fell off the computer table about 20 times, and the headphones are still alive and well. By the way, the plug broke after six months of use when I started carrying them with the iPod. I don't wear these headphones in subzero temperatures. After 3 years of active use, the ear pads haven't peeled, and the paint on the cups hasn't chipped or worn off. To this day, the headphones attract the attention of passersby. These headphones continue to delight me every day with their comfort and high-quality sound. Good sound, design, foldable design, very comfortable fit on the head. The wire may seem flimsy. During the hot season, the ears may sweat. Lightweight and comfortable headphones
The Koss UR40 is a full-cup open style headphone. The feature of the headphones lies in the folding design: the headband arms fold together with the cup mounts, and the overall size of the headphones is reduced by half. Together with a light weight of 175 g, this makes them very easy to carry. Unless, of course, you try to listen to the discography of Gucci Mane in one sitting. The only complaint we have is the cord — for this class of headphones, it is quite thin and short.
Atypical Koss sound
The sound of the UR40 is quite original and somewhat unusual for Koss. Usually, the company is famous for its driving and assertive sound with an emphasis on bass. Here, the sound is somehow lighter and more airy, with unexpectedly soft and low frequencies, thanks to which the overall picture sounds more balanced. But the high frequencies are recouped a little strange, they are in abundance, but they sound somehow blurred. But the sound has excellent positioning in space, so that each instrument can be easily distinguished in the overall ensemble.

However, it is important to remember that thanks to the open cups, external sounds easily mix with the music, which makes you want to turn it up louder. However, at a volume close to 90%, the membrane begins to choke, and almost nothing remains of the former beauty of the sound. Therefore, the perfect place to operate the Koss UR40 will be where there is not a lot of external noise. Otherwise, these are excellent and relatively inexpensive headphones that win back every penny. And they cost just under $50.
