Monitor LG UltraWide 34WK95U

A large, expensive and maximally "charged" monitor with a 21:9 widescreen, the picture on which is broadcast in 5K ultra-high definition resolution (5120x2160 pixels). The model has a Nano IPS type matrix with bright, juicy and vibrant colour reproduction, regardless of the viewing angle. An even deeper immersion in what is happening on the screen is provided by the monitor's support for the VESA DisplayHDR 600 specification for extended dynamic range technology.

The next crown "chip" LG 34WK95U is the use of three Thunderbolt ports as connection interfaces. When paired with an Apple MacBook, a charging current of 85 watts “flows” through them. In a niche on the “loin” side of the monitor case, they are adjacent to the usual DisplayPort and HDMI connectors. Also, the equipment of the device provides the presence of built-in stereo speakers on board. At the time of “going public” and even after the appearance of direct competitors on the shelves of stores, the model, at least with parameters that are close in spirit, is essentially not found.

This monitor is exactly what I needed. Everything is fine with it.

There aren't too many reviews online, but a significant portion is dedicated to defects. I hesitated for a long time before purchasing, but for assurance, I bought it from the official sellers. My concerns were not confirmed.
• no light bleed
• no fan noise (the monitor doesn't heat above 45 degrees)
• no image retention
• sturdy stand
• using workarounds on Mac M1, you can set any hidpi resolution

• For M1, there are no custom permissions — but this is more of an Apple problem (found a solution through BetterDummy, installed without any SIP disablement and terminal use)

On paper, it's an excellent monitor, and in fact, it would be too, if not for one thing: residual image, which makes the monitor unusable. How it manifests - on dark tones you can see the residual image that was previously displayed on the screen. And it takes just one hour of displaying a static image for this problem to appear. i.e., just work in the browser for an hour and voilà, you have to put up with the browser toolbar in other applications with a dark background. The same goes for other static menu or navigation elements in other applications. DCI-P3 98% color space? Accurate color rendering? Oh sure, if the previous image doesn't bother you :) I contacted support, first they ignored me, then they referred to the manual (which says the effect may occur with prolonged display of a static image, though they didn't specify that one hour was enough), then they asked me to write a statement by hand describing the problem (it's the 21st century for God's sake!), and send it to the master through Viber (well, at least not by mail in an envelope), and again for more than a month, no response from support (I constantly ping the master, and only get responses like "I'll get back to you, I reminded management, reminded them again today"). Negative reviews are being removed from the site. Also, my built-in USB hub stopped working, but it was replaced under warranty — thanks at least for that. Although during replacement, they stripped the head off a bolt on the VESA mount, so now the monitor is held by three bolts.
