This is the first battery charger that I have gotten my hands on. I took some time to choose it to understand if it suits me. This particular model has extensive functionality, which, of course, is reflected in the price. The three operating modes have additional options that can be selected. At first glance, two main control buttons may seem insufficient for setting options, but after familiarizing yourself with the instructions, it becomes clear that it's not that complicated. Using the "Mode" button, you select the operating mode - simple charging (when you know the battery's capacity and just need to charge it); quick test - the charger discharges and then charges the battery; extended test - the device charges-discharges and then charges the battery again, after which it displays its capacity. Four additional buttons are for switching between installed batteries. Depending on the selected charging and discharging current and the battery's capacity, the testing process can take quite a long time. If the lowest charging/discharging and AA battery with a 2600 mAh capacity is chosen, a full test can take from 9 to +/- 11 hours. Simple charging takes from 3 to 5 hours. The built-in screen has a clear and understandable font, and all options that can be switched are displayed when turned on. The screen has a non-intrusive backlight. The charger's package allows you to start using it right out of the box; you only need to purchase batteries separately. Different operating modes and additional options. For the regular user, this might be too much, but to understand if the battery meets the claimed specifications, the model is perfect. The package allows you to start charging/testing the battery immediately after unpacking-connecting-referring to the manual. The charger has a rather interesting function - acting as a power bank. However, this becomes possible only with a specific type of connected battery(-ies). The current delivered in this case is limited to 5 Volts, 1 Amp. The function is quite specific, but someone might find it useful. Since this is my first experience with such devices, I didn't find any particular disadvantages. The choice in favor of this model was due to the presence of a current of 300 mA, I mainly charge it, the batteries last longer than when charging 500 mA. In addition to charging, there are two more modes, Fast Test and NOR Test. The first one first discharges the battery, then charges by measuring the capacity, here the data will not be entirely correct, but the second NOR Test mode allows you to accurately measure, it first fully charges, then discharges and on the last charge cycle, mAh is measured, which is the most correct. Four completely independent channels, and each of the channels can operate in different modes and with different currents. Quite accurately determines the capacity of the batteries. Supports all modern standard sizes. Charging with a current of 300 mA. Works as a Power Bank when using 18650 batteries. There is a USB port for charging gadgets, that is, you can use it as a Power Bank, BUT! Only if a 18650 battery or equivalent 3.7V is inserted. If regular AA batteries are inserted, the USB port will not be activated. There is no separate mode with several charge-discharge cycles with different currents for battery recovery. The Liitokala Lii-500 intellectual charges, tests and trains cylindrical batteries of various calibers. Thanks to the movable “minus”, rechargeable AA and AAA batteries, as well as many types of batteries with digital indexes in the manner of 18650, are easily placed in the charger slots.
Individual settings
The device uses 4 independent channels, respectively, for each slot, you can select individual charging current values from 300, 500, 700 and 1000 mA. Liitokala Lii-500 charges at least one battery, at least all four at once, and the caliber of the batteries can be completely different. The parameters of the "charger" are displayed on the information display at the bottom of the case. In one sitting, the screen shows information for only one charging slot.
Operating modes
The model provides three main modes of operation: Charge (charging), Fast Test (quick test by discharging and recharging the battery), Nor Test (normal test with procedures for fully charging, discharging and recharging the battery). The fourth mode is an imitation of the activity of a power bank, when, when connected to a USB cord charger, you can charge compatible gadgets from the outside. Li-Ion batteries are suitable for distributing energy in external battery mode. The trick does not work with Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh batteries.
The ability to "see"
The display of the device displays data regarding the duration of operation in the selected mode, the amount of charging current, the current voltage, the accumulated or given capacity. The ability to “see” the state of the batteries and control the amount of “filled” capacity is the hallmark of Liitokala Lii-500, in which the device furnishes ordinary battery “chargers” from its price category.
