Inexpensive but high quality smartwatch
The Chinese company Mobvoi specializes in the production of smartwatches, both on its own Ticwear OS operating system (developed on the basis of the Android system) and on Wear OS. TicWatch Pro is the most expensive and sophisticated smartwatch in the company's lineup, which runs on the Google Wear operating system, has two screens and promises extended battery life.
Quality materials
When unpacking, the high quality of workmanship immediately catches your eye. If the previous Mobvoi smartwatches were all plastic, here we have a case made of durable fibreglass reinforced nylon. It is not only relatively light, but also quite durable. At the same time, the back cover and the bezel around the dial are made of stainless steel. The strap is made of leather with a silicone insert on the inside, which makes it easy to clean. In terms of design, the watch gravitates toward the classics and will surely appeal to those who find ordinary fitness trackers too simple. Of the minuses, we note only the rather large dimensions of the case — somewhere it was necessary to shove 2 screens, GPS, NFC, a heart rate sensor and a 415 mAh battery.
Dual screen to save battery
The main difference between TicWatch Pro and its counterparts is an unusual two-layer display. At the bottom is a 1.39-inch OLED panel that displays the Google Wear OS interface. A special Super Twisted Nematic (FSTN) LCD display covers it from above, which displays basic information such as time, steps taken, calories burned, etc. It is transparent, and when inactive, the main display is visible through it. By itself, it consumes battery power very sparingly and is responsible for switching to the so-called Essential Mode, which allows you to turn off the first colour display and use only the LCD screen in order to save even more battery (they promise up to 30 days of work in this mode). The only inconvenience is that it does not have its own backlight, which makes it difficult to read in low light.
Running Wear OS
Responsible for the performance of the watch is not the newest and fastest Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, which works in conjunction with 512 MB of RAM. To use the basic functions of the watch, iron is enough, but you should go to the conditional Google Play and welcome slowdowns. This is the first and perhaps the most important drawback of this model. The second nuance is the unwillingness to be friends with Apple gadgets — TicWatch Pro normally catch a connection with a conditional iPhone, but the list of available functions on iOS is much smaller.
- Smart Mode — uses an AMOLED display, all Wear OS features are available. Battery life — 24 hours.
- Essential Mode — FSTN display is used, functionality is limited. Battery life — 720 hours in standby mode.
- Hybrid mode — the FSTN display is active, which displays the date and time. When you press the button, the AMOLED display is activated with full functionality. Battery life — from 72 to 120 hours.
