Personally, I do this: 900 ml of milk (standard packaging) is just enough for all the jars, provided that they need to be filled by about 3/4 of the volume, then I put them in the yogurt maker, set it for 6 hours and go to bed, everything is ready in the morning, it turns off automatically . I add jam to the remaining volume of the jar. It turns out excellent natural yogurt for every day.
