The Noctua NH-D15 Chromax Black is a quiet and high-performance air CPU cooler, part of Noctua's dedicated line of super tower coolers. It is the successor to the most popular model Noctua NH-D15 with an unusual for the company coal-black radiator and the same black fans. Positioned as a model in the upper price category of 2019, it is aimed at experienced users and owners of extremely powerful processors that cannot be cooled by simpler tower coolers.
Designed to cool both standard and top models of Intel/AMD processors in standard and overclocked modes. Equipped with all mounting brackets for mounting with all popular types of processor sockets (Intel 1150/1155/1156/1200/1700 and AMD AM4/AM5). To dissipate heat, a two-section radiator design is used, consisting of 45 plates soldered to tubes with a pitch of 2 mm. The total design area is an impressive 12600 cv2, which allows about 220 W of heat to be dissipated from the processor.
For silent air dispersion, two 140mm Noctua NF-A15 PWM fans with a seven-blade impeller are used. Using PWM control, their rotation speed can vary from 300 to 1500 rpm. Both turntables are equipped with proprietary SSO2 bearings, which are durable hydrodynamic friction units with magnetic self-stabilization. These are high-quality, durable and quiet bearings that minimize noise even when constantly operating at maximum speed. Finally, it is necessary to note the large dimensions (height 165 mm) and impressive weight (1320 g) of the device, which is important to consider when installing compact PCs and complex systems with a large number of components.

The shortest cooler for the price of air refrigeration. Seriously, for those who value money and accessories, and not marry colorful lights and backlighting. Most of all was due to those who suffered from a hundred drops of water after this. I'm not particularly a fan of water cooling. Therefore, with my heavy-duty RYZEN 9 processor, the choice is really not great. Either BEQUIET or NOCTUA. If you respectfully read the books about resentment, you won’t be deprived of food at all. This speech is reliable and it works. What else do you need, if you have a lot of expensive components...? (definitely not water hoses and a flood) In fact, there is none. If you were to be very picky, then, from an aesthetic point of view, it would be bad for the NOCTUA company to create another white version. Darker than the night
Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black is an upgraded version of one of the most efficient CPU air coolers (16.5 cm high, 1.3 kg weight). Compared to the previous "light" version, it compares favorably with its elegant black colour and the guaranteed presence of a mount for the AMD AM4 socket in the kit. The compact Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black tower boasts the same innovations.

The design of the Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black is double-towered: six copper heat pipes connect two arrays of aluminium fins. The bottom fins are smaller than the top ones, thus making room for RAM with tall heatsinks. But one of the two bundled fans can still conflict with the RAM, so we recommend limiting yourself to low-radiator or no-radiator modules at all.

With the Noctua NH-D15 processor, chromax.black contacts through an intermediary plate, polished to a mirror finish. The cooler comes with a tube of branded Noctua NT-H1 thermal paste, famous for one of the highest thermal conductivity on the market. A Y-splitter is also provided to connect two fans to one 4-pin motherboard header, and a pair of LNA resistors to reduce rotational speed and, as a result, noise. And already a traditional screwdriver included.

Fourteen centimeter turntables are called Noctua NF-A15 HS-PWM chromax.black and operate at speeds from 300 to 1500 rpm (up to 1200 rpm when using an LNA adapter). The noise level even at maximum speed does not exceed a moderate 25 dB. The Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black deserves special praise for, in our opinion, the most convenient motherboard mount among all cooler manufacturers — SecuFirm2. In addition to the aforementioned AMD AM4 platform, it is compatible with AM3+, Intel LGA1151, LGA1150, LGA2011-v3, LGA2066, and more. Only highly specialized AMD Threadripper TR4 processors are not supported, but they require a cooler with a much wider soleplate.
