Actually, my husband and I were planning to buy a fairly simple meat grinder, but when we started looking into the options, it became clear that there's no point in getting a cheap and budget one. Indeed, buying a simple meat grinder that can't do anything else doesn't make much sense for a regular home kitchen. It won't be used very often. It's a different story with a multifunctional device like this model from Philips. It is, however, quite pricey. You do have to pay extra for multifunctionality and brand warranty, no doubt about it. This is not just a meat grinder, it's also a juicer, more precisely a tomato juicer and a vegetable slicer. But let's start from the beginning. As a meat grinder, it has shown itself confidently and well. It grinds pork, beef, and especially poultry briskly and quickly. I haven't measured the speed in kilograms per minute, but if the meat is already prepared, meaning cleaned of sinews and thick membranes, it didn't need to be kept on for long. In 4-5 minutes, I manage under any circumstances. Everything grinds equally quickly through both the 5 mm and the 8 mm grid. Besides this, it handles tomatoes well and slices vegetables decently. Well, at least two out of three attachments can be useful. Here's where not having a reverse was a mistake. There was once a situation with a sinewy piece of meat that got stuck on the auger near the blade and prevented the work from continuing. If there was a reverse, you could have turned it the other way, hooked it, and pulled it out. Without a reverse, you can only disassemble it. Also, after studying the instructions, my husband said that you should never allow bones to get inside it. It has a one-time safety part that breaks after hitting a bone, and restoring its functionality can only be done through an official service center. Moreover, the service considers such a situation "fairly" as not a warranty case. |
