An interesting situation) I am a student of the Faculty of Cybernetics, currently doing an assignment on "Computer Architecture" remotely to describe my HDD, I'm searching for information on the internet and stumbled upon here. My old companion has been working for 7 YEARS and it's doing fine. Not even any bad sectors) I just couldn't resist writing a review. I bought this model of the drive a little over a year ago. I got it to store photos and videos of the family archive. A week ago, it just stopped being recognized by the system. The service center said the controller had broken. Now, to repair it (if that's even possible), I need to pay almost the same price as its original cost. But that's not the worst part. If the controller repair doesn't yield positive results, there's a chance to recover the data stored on it. Fortunately, there are experts who can be found through the internet. But the cost here starts at the disk price and ends... I calculated it like this: multiply the disk price by 4.5 to get the final cost of data recovery from the disk (if opening the sealed chamber is necessary). Please take this into account when choosing a specific disk! For additional reference, you can look at the hard drive failure statistics conducted by Backblaze. Everything is accessible and understandable there. Draw your own conclusions on what and for what purposes to buy. К счастью, на момент поломки никаких особо ценных файлов на диске не было. Специально покупал модель на 2 ТБ, чтобы хранить на ней всякое такое. Фильмы, и музыку из инета. Обидно конечно же, но ничего смертельного, все это можно без проблем восстановить. То есть просто снова скачать, займет максимум пару недель. Однако следующий диск я уже буду брать от другого производителя. А ведь сколько до этого Сигейтов было, ни разу никаких проблем не возникало, служили по 3-4 года, то есть отрабатывали все сроки полностью. Тихий, нет сильных вибраций при работе. Более того, наверное один из самых тихих дисков, какие я вообще встречал в своей жизни. А их я встречал немало. Хорошая производительность. Даже после напряженного рабочего дня сильно не нагревался. Через год использования благополучно накрылся. Просто перестал работать в один день и хоть тресни. Такая же проблема возникла и у друга.
