Smartphones with UFS 3.1
UFS v3 support
— devices equipped with built-in storage of UFS version 3.0 or higher.UFS is a solid-state memory standard that has been developed to replace the conventional eMMC and has been implemented in mobile devices since 2016. Compared to eMMC, it provides higher operating speeds (including in random read/write mode, which is important for application performance), and also has a number of other improvements (first of all, full-duplex mode — that is, the ability to simultaneously read and write). And UFS v3 is the newest and most advanced generation of UFS, support for such memory is typical mainly for fairly advanced smartphones. There are two specific versions of UFS v3 today:
UFS 3.0. Version released in 2019. Compared to the previous specification, 2.1 provides more than a 2x speed increase — up to 1450 Mbps per line (2900 Mbps for two lines). In addition, a number of solutions aimed at improving reliability were added — including the expansion of the operating temperature range for the memory controller.
UFS 3.1. A further development of UFS v3, aimed at optimizing performance in mobile systems with low power consumption. Introduced early 2020. Among the innovations introduced in UFS 3.1 is a non-volatile Write Booster cache for faster writing; special DeepSleep power saving mode for relatively simple and inexpensive systems; as well as the Performance Throttling Notification feature, which allows the drive to send overheating signals to the control system. In addition, this standard may additionally provide support for the HPB extension, which improves reading speed.
