To answer this question as objectively as possible and help you make your choice between gas and electric ovens, we will talk about the pros and cons of each type of technique.

Gas oven

The advantages of a gas oven are maximum ease of use, almost instantaneous heating and high cooking speed. On this, perhaps, the main advantages of gas end.

The disadvantages include the increased dryness of the air in the kitchen due to the burnout of oxygen and the release of carbon dioxide, the inability to set the exact temperature during cooking, soot on dishes that are close to the burners. In addition, inexpensive ovens do not provide an even distribution of temperature, which can cause the dish to burn.

Nevertheless, it would be wrong to say that gas ovens can only work in heating mode. Most models have a cooling fan. The gas control safety system automatically stops the gas supply when the flame goes out.

This oven is equipped with auto ignition. It can be either automatic - ignition occurs immediately when the switch is turned, or mechanical - you additionally need to press a button.

Additionally, gas ovens can be equipped with a convection mode and the dish will be baked evenly on all sides. Also, convection will allow you to cook simultaneously on several baking sheets. Many ovens have a grill, a spit and a timer, and the design of the ovens is quite modern and attractive.

Electric oven

with steam cleaning function

The main advantage of an electric oven lies in its functionality. Unlike a gas oven, an electric oven has several types of grill, defrosting, sourdough and sourdough cooking functions, a steamer and microwave function, as well as a temperature probethat controls the degree of readiness of the dish. And this is not counting the standard programs for individual products (poultry, fish, pork or beef) or dishes (pizza, cakes).

In an electric oven, you can easily adjust the heating options: top, bottom, top and bottom at the same time, and so on. In many modern models, you can cook several dishes at the same time.

Thanks to numerous programs, the ability to set the exact temperature and simply by selecting the desired recipe in the appliance menu, you can cook the most complex dishes in the electric oven and be sure that they will cook correctly. And for lovers of baking, an electric oven is just a godsend! In a gas oven, the same dish can turn out differently every time. And all because the exact temperature with gas is difficult to achieve.

Another point that distinguishes electric ovens is their cleaning capabilities. There are several of them: catalytic(due to special plates built into the walls of the oven that break down and absorb fat), pyrolytic(the oven heats up to an extremely high temperature and all the fumes and fat burn out literally to ashes) and hydrolysis(i.e. steam that softens pollution). Each of them has its own advantages, but the fact is that in gas ovens, only one option is possible - pyrolytic cleaning.

But a serious disadvantage of an electric oven is that it takes time to warm up. Power outages don't count, although power outages are certainly more common than gas outages.

What is better?

Obviously, gas ovens are inferior to electric ovens in many respects. First of all, in terms of functionality. Electric ovens not only make you feel like a chef, they are more convenient to maintain and operate. Therefore, if the oven is not just a technique for you, if you like to cook, it is the electric oven that will become your best assistant in this. Happy shopping!
