Which shape will be most convenient for home entertainment?

The most common shapes are round and rectangular, although oval and square can also be found. The shape of the pool determines the possibilities of its use, so the choice must begin with this criterion. It is also worth considering the specifics of the installation location in order to achieve the optimal location and not block the free space in the yard.

Let's learn more about the shapes of pools:

Rectangular shape

A rectangular frame pool takes up less space and can be positioned along walls to create natural shade. At the same time, it is excellent for swimming due to its increased length. The elongated shape is also convenient for entertainment, suggesting the installation of a net for playing volleyball and other active activities. It is important to note that the load on the central points of the side walls of the frame in rectangular models increases, so the racks must be reinforced.

Round form

The round shape is considered the most popular, since most users choose a pool for relaxation and cooling, rather than sports entertainment. Here the load on the walls is distributed evenly, so for reliability, racks made of different materials can be used, which reduces the cost.

Round frame pools are optimal for entertainment with children's, relaxation, water aerobics, and provide constant visual control of all participants. They are safer on the outside, as there are no sharp right angles. But in terms of convenience of location, the round shape is inferior to the rectangular one, as it takes up more space. For example, a model with a diameter of 3 meters is more difficult to fit into the desired corner of the yard.

Square shape

Square pools are rare and are more aimed at children's.

Custom shape

Non-standard forms are distinguished by their large sizes and volumes, versatility of use and corresponding high cost.

How do the dimensions of the pool affect its use?

Manufacturers offer different sizes of pools. It is important to consider all parameters to ensure a safe stay for children's and a comfortable stay for adults.

For full swimming and water games

For this use case, the main indicator is length. It should be a minimum of 5–6 m for an adult/teenager. The width of such pools is usually more than 2.5 m, and the total area allows you to enjoy active games.

It is necessary to understand that such models are designed for adults (depth of at least 1 m), and children's are recommended to be in them only in special vests and under adult supervision.

For cooling and relaxation

In this case, round shapes with a diameter of 3–4 m or rectangular shapes with a length of 3–4 m are suitable. This is quite enough to comfortably and safely accommodate a company of 4–6 people. For a small family (2 adults and 1 child), options with a length/diameter of up to 3 m are suitable.

To calculate dimensions for a certain number of users, it is necessary to take into account the anthropometry of the participants. In general, for a comfortable stay for an adult standing or lying down, you will need a space of about 2 m². For children's, the figure is similar, given their increased activity. This area is enough for free movement of arms/legs without the risk of collisions and injuries.

For a child

The choice of a frame pool for a child should be based on depth to ensure a safe stay in any situation.

For children's:

  • up to 6 years (height about 100–110 cm), it is better to choose the smallest models with a depth of no more than 50 cm;
  • at the age of 7–10 years, options up to 100 cm can be considered;
  • after 10 years, depending on height, models from 100 cm in height are suitable.
Important! The actual depth is usually 20-30% less than indicated in the specifications. This is due to the fact that manufacturers do not recommend filling more than 70–80% of the volume in order to avoid increased load and water pouring over the edges.

Also, do not forget that filling the pool will require a lot of water. If the supply is centralized, then it is enough to stretch the hose and provide the required volume in a couple of hours. But if you have a well or well, it may take several days to fill the pool. Therefore, consider the capabilities of your water supply.

Design features and materials of manufacture

The quality of manufacturing materials determines the pool’s resistance to loads and durability. It is necessary to pay attention to the design of the racks, the principle of connecting components during assembly, and the number of layers of fabric.

Rod frame

Almost all prefabricated swimming pools for homes and cottages are based on a rod frame. It consists of individual racks that are connected using tubes. The assembly process is as simple as possible and does not require experience or tools. The elements are secured with latches. You can prepare such a structure in a few hours, depending on the dimensions. This is the best and affordable option for a private home and cottage.

Sectional frame

The design is used for the most voluminous models, where the water pressure on the walls is very high. The individual sections are bolted together to form a solid structure that distributes weight well as the water oscillates.

Since the frame is constantly in contact with water, appropriate protection is necessary. Racks should be made of galvanized steel pipes or have an additional powder coating. Pay special attention to the quality of the inner bowl. It must consist of at least 3 layers. External provides resistance to mechanical damage. The best option would be PVC (polyvinyl chloride, also known as vinyl). Between them there is usually an inner layer of reinforced PVC mesh, which eliminates stretching of the fabric, deformation and prevents the spread of cracks in case of damage to the outer layer.

Why do you need a filter system and is it worth spending money on?

As a rule, a filtration system is a prerequisite for keeping the pool clean, but it is not always included in the package.

There are 2 types of filters:

  • Cartridge - more affordable, but requires regular maintenance and replacement.
  • Sand - bought with a reserve for several years and does not require frequent maintenance, although their cost is very high.

If you are confident in the quality of the water that fills the pool, you use it irregularly (for example, on weekends), and the volume does not exceed 6–7 m³, then filtration may not be necessary. In some cases it will be easier to replace all the water. It is enough to cover the pool with an awning, carry out periodic mechanical cleaning of sand and debris, and use specialized household chemicals for disinfection.

When using a pool constantly, debris, sand and dirt that enter the water during the day can become a serious problem. In this case, you cannot do without a filtration system. For medium volumes (from 10 m³), provided the water is of good quality, a cartridge filter will be sufficient. For large pools, it is better to invest once in a sand system. It is also important to take into account productivity, which should ensure that the entire volume of water passes through the filter 2-3 times a day.

What should be included in the package for efficient and comfortable operation?

You cannot avoid most of the associated costs, but by purchasing a complete set for operating a swimming pool in one store you can save a lot. What exactly is needed to improve comfort, safety and proper maintenance?

Litter

The mat is designed to protect the bowl from uneven floors, as well as better distribute the load and eliminate distortions on different surfaces. Usually made of canvas, it is slightly larger than the pool itself.

Ladder

A ladder is necessary for comfortable and safe entry and exit from the pool, especially if the height is high and there is a child. Its design can be different, provide for blocking from arbitrary use by children's and other features.

Filtration system

The presence of a cartridge or sand filter will minimize the amount of sand and various impurities that enter the pool from the outside. The water will stay clean longer without requiring frequent maintenance or replacement.

Skimmer

The skimmer is an additional filtration tool for cleaning the surface from midges, insects and various debris. It is installed inside the pool and connected to the water intake valve.

Vacuum cleaner

The vacuum cleaner is used to effectively clean the internal surface without the need to drain the water. There are manual vacuum models that are also equipped with wall attachments and a net. To automate the process, self-propelled robotic vacuum cleaners with a vacuum or electrical connection are suitable. The latter belong to the premium class with an appropriate price.

Awning

An awning is a protective sheet made of fabric, tarpaulin or film, which is designed to cover the pool when it is not in use. It eliminates debris and reduces water loss due to evaporation. A good alternative could be a canopy made in the form of an umbrella, tent, or sphere. It will protect not only from debris, but also from the sun and rain while swimming.

Disinfectants

Regardless of the quality of water, periodic disinfection, cleaning and complete replacement are a prerequisite. However, it is forbidden to use conventional household chemicals to disinfect frame pools, as they can lead to irreparable damage to the bowl and the appearance of allergic reactions on human skin.

Manufacturers recommend using:

Intex or Bestway: is there a difference in quality?

No one can answer which manufacturer makes better quality frame pools and accessories for them. Despite belonging to different countries ( Intex - USA, Bestway - China), production facilities are located on Chinese territory, where the entire cycle of work is carried out. Externally similar in design, the models from both companies differ little in quality.

If you analyze consumer reviews, you can highlight the main points:

  • Bestway makes the canvas (bowl) from materials that are a little stronger. Although both brands use a three-layer PVC-based construction;
  • Bestway products are more affordable;
  • Intex offers interior decoration in the form of mosaics;
  • Intex water pumps have a longer service life

Both brands have been on the market for more than 30 years, so there is no point in doubting the quality, and it is entirely your right to take into account the user experience or not.
