Amazon Kindle Gen 11 2022
![]() |
The Amazon e-reader has expanded the 2022 model range and is the most compact book reader in the brand line. The case is made of lightweight (weight 158 grams), but durable magnesium alloy, has a small thickness of 8 mm. The manufacturer also notes that only recycled materials (magnesium and plastic) are used in the manufacture of the device. For comfortable reading, there is a 6-inch monochrome screen with a resolution of 1448 by 1072 pixels, which is made using E Ink Carta technology that is safe for the eyes.
Also, the Amazon Kindle Gen 11 2022 e-reader supports touch control and is complemented by a backlight, which consists of four LEDs: designed to provide convenience both during the day and at night. The book reader runs a proprietary Linux-based OS, provides 16 GB of storage that cannot be expanded (no memory card slot). The increasingly popular USB C port is offered for charging the model, with a full power cycle taking less than 2 hours, and autonomy with a daily 30-minute reading can reach 6 weeks. Traditional features include integration into a branded eco-system, so the best experience of interaction will be provided by the Kindle Unlimited service with access to millions of literary works and thousands of audiobooks.

- ergonomics, nothing superfluous (Apple among e-readers) - lightweight, compact - high-quality contrast screen - includes backlight - charge lasts for a month - charges via USB-C (0.3 - 6 W maximum) - 16 GB of storage is more than enough - includes a dictionary, if you're reading something in English and some words are unclear, you can find definitions or translations - Some may find uploading books inconvenient, for that there's a PC app called Calibre which is extremely simple and convenient, it understands Kindle and converts any format into a compatible one for the book. - It would be nice to have backlighting with adjustable color temperature, like in the PaperWhite, but then how would the flagship be distinguished? - Does not support the Ukrainian language in dictionaries and definitions. ![]() |
The device is compact and lightweight. The screen is sharp, with good contrast, and the backlight is pleasant with flexible settings. Unfortunately, there's no warm filter like in the PaperWhite models, but that's the only minor downside, not critical.
The controls are entirely touch-based and ergonomically intuitive. The screen responds quickly, with a full refresh either occurring when loading images or pictures or after a defined number of page turns, around 10-20. This isn't adjustable, and it’s unnecessary. You can adjust the font, size, margins, and orientation. It also displays the clock at the top and the reading progress at the bottom. I've set it to show the number of minutes in a chapter and the percentage read.
It has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. I don’t see the point in using the e-reader for other scenarios like listening to audiobooks or surfing the internet. The only useful function is the ability to send a book to Kindle via email, which I used once. I regularly use the Calibre app for synchronization. Otherwise, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are always turned off.
The battery lasts for a month, from 100 to 20 percent, when I read every day with the backlight set to 9-10 (about half) for 40-60 minutes.
I bought a case with a magnetic trigger that turns the e-reader on or off when opened, but it cracked and fell apart at the corners, so I need to find something more reliable.
