DJI's first entry into the action camera arena, the Osmo Action model, used the popular GoPro form factor. The second edition of DJI cameras has a distinctive modular design that opens up a number of new possibilities in the genre of action filming.

Modular design

Structurally , DJI Action 2 consists of a master unit with electronics and plug-in modules connected to it on powerful magnets. In the Power Combo package, the camera comes with an additional power module of the same name — it has an extended 1300 mAh battery, which extends the battery life of the action camera up to 3 hours. The technical side of the issue

The main unit of the device can be operated without hard binding to the modules from the outside. Outside, it is equipped with a 1.76-inch OLED screen, inside the module is a 1/1.7-inch image sensor. Also, it has optics with a viewing angle of 155 ° and aperture of f / 2.8. The camera shoots video in 4K resolution at a frame rate of up to 120 fps at a 16:9 aspect ratio and at a frame rate of up to 60 fps at a 4:3 aspect ratio. During recording, the operator has access to RockSteady 2.0 digital stabilization, backed by HorizonSteady auto leveling.

Unexpected angles

In its original format, without the use of auxiliary modules, the camera can be submerged under water to a depth of 10 metres. But with additional blocks, the device loses water resistance. However, without them, the action camera is even worse — its "independence" rests on a number of limitations. The DJI Action 2 Master Module does not have a memory card slot or charging port. All this is present on board the modules. As a result, the unusual form factor of the device allows you to create videos from the most unexpected angles, which is required from a multi-purpose action camera.
