The phone itself is not bad. The camera and battery are great. There is one drawback: During calls, for some reason, the screen doesn't lock, and you can accidentally make a call to a second line with your ear, while talking (or, for instance, send photos from your phone to a chat in Viber). This issue with the firmware hasn't been resolved. Perhaps it's related to the lack of a physical speaker. But the biggest problem is the service. I had an issue with the screen. In the morning, when I woke up, I saw a black spot on the screen. A couple of weeks later, a bright line appeared from this spot to the opposite side of the screen. I took it to the service center on December 5th, and the next day they called and said it was physical damage (even though everything looked intact with no damage to the phone) and offered to replace the display for 4500 UAH instead of 6500 UAH as a "promotion." They said the parts were available, and it would be done within 2 days. I agreed. But now it's the New Year, and I'm still without a phone. First, they made me a fool, saying they told me 2 days, not 2 weeks. Nonetheless, almost a month has passed (writing this review on January 1st), and I'm still using a button phone. I think 1.5 months of waiting is not the limit because usually, nothing gets done until January 15th here. I'll never buy any HUAWEI product again. It was foolish to spend 28,000 UAH on this. And with the Huawei P30 Pro, they've done it again, bringing together the legacy of past models and taking mobile photography up a notch.
Capable of shooting in complete darkness
The Huawei P30 Pro cameras have several innovations at once. The 40MP wide-angle module uses an RYYB pixel pattern that allows more light (up to 40%) to pass through the filter, thereby improving the quality of images in low light. Therefore, the Huawei P30 Pro wide-angle camera has a fantastic ISO level for a smartphone. Simply put, if you take a photo in complete darkness with ISO 409600 settings, the picture will look like it was taken in broad daylight. And if there is at least some kind of light source, then you can fully reveal the capabilities of the camera.
The best camera phone
At the same time, the P30 Pro camera can do many different tricks, such as stitching shots with different exposures, optical and hybrid zoom, manual change of angle, etc. The artificial intelligence of the camera has also improved. If in previous models he sometimes acted too aggressively, here we have fine filigree work. In general, a separate material can be devoted to the camera of this smartphone (or rather, look at the photos in the reviews yourself), so let's just say that the P30 Pro has become the new leader in the camera phone rating from the reputable DxOMark resource.
Thoroughbred appearance
As for the atypical design, instead of the traditional notch cutout, the P30 Pro uses a tiny teardrop notch at the top centre of the screen. Well, we have already seen the rounded side edges of the screen in the previous flagships of Samsung and Huawei. Thanks to this combination, the diagonal of the smartphone turned out to be increased to 6.5", although the proportions remained at the level of last year's P20 Pro. The materials used are glass and metal with gradient painting.
In-screen fingerprint scanner
Housing Huawei P30 Pro received protection against water and dust according to the IP68 standard. This means that the smartphone can be submerged under water, but you should not abuse it. The fingerprint scanner is located right in the display. In addition, the manufacturer did not remove the infrared port from the device, which allows you to turn the P30 Pro into a remote control. Of the other goodies, we have a USB-C connection, an NFC chip, and wireless charging. Plus, instead of a conversational speaker, Huawei used a technology that allows you to emit sound through the display. However only in mono, which is not very convenient if you are used to watching movies on your smartphone.
Excellent OLED screen
An OLED screen with a resolution of 2340x1080 and a wide colour range looks somewhere between "chic" and "excellent". You can't expect anything else from such a premium smartphone. Well, in terms of hardware, we have full hardware: a top-end processor of our own production Kirin 980, a ten-core Mali-G76 video chip and 6 GB of RAM. In the latter case, I would still like 8 GB. It's not a necessity, but flagships have taught the best of the best. Yes, and the margin of durability will not be superfluous.
