As my life has become more mobile, yet I still sometimes want to play without compromises, I decided not to build a stationary PC again, but to buy a laptop (I sold my PC two years ago due to issues with it). I went for a configuration with a 3070Ti to make sure I wouldn't miss out. And I didn't—it's a fundamentally different level in all aspects compared to the PC I had (i7 3770k, GTX 1070, 24 GB RAM). Finally, laptops have stopped being like how they were ten years ago, when the concept of a "gaming laptop" was extremely compromising. Price. And this is more of an advantage of the seller rather than the laptop model itself (though partly that too), thanks to whom the configuration with a Ryzen 6800h, RTX3070ti, 1 GB SSD, and 16 GB RAM cost me around 1,800 EUR instead of 2,500 EUR, like with official sellers who seem to have lost their sense of pricing. A fantastic screen, though some units may have screen bleeding (which can be easily fixed by oneself); mine doesn't have any. The combination of performance and cooling efficiency, which isn't too loud for a laptop. My desktop PC was noisier, and its graphics card heated up to 84°C, while this one doesn't even reach 80°C. Stylish and minimalist design, like a wolf in sheep's clothing, looks conservative but packs a punch. I wanted a white one a bit more, but it wasn't available, so I went for the dark grey. Most of the ports are located at the back, which is a very smart engineering solution. The speakers are at the bottom. Well darn it, when will engineers start to learn a bit about the physics of sound as a phenomenon and understand that the higher the sound frequency, the narrower its directivity is... Speakers facing away from the listener = practically no high frequencies. This is an axiom, and it's true in this case. Card reader. There's none. In the laptop. Are you serious? I understand that it's a gaming laptop, but it's also used by designers, videographers, and photographers because of the need for high GPU performance, which only a gaming laptop can fully provide. So, people in these fields will have to connect their camera via USB, and let me remind you, cameras with even USB 3.0 on board practically don't exist. So, you'll spend hours waiting for data to transfer via USB 2.0. However, most built-in card readers in laptops also use 2.0, so the speed won't be much higher. ![]() |
