Recently replaced my old Legion y740. Initially wanted another Legion but got tempted by the 4070, 64RAM, mini LED, and a decent camera in the right place. No regrets. In games: GPU temperature on ultra settings (currently only tested with Death Stranding) is 58-60C. The back is indeed hot, but all areas where fingers touch are cold. In work: With 64 RAM, everything is smooth (as expected with SSD 4th gen + 20 threads). Very nice screen, though at night not perfect, pure IPS/VA looks better. It stays cool, with the intelligent mode on it doesn't turn on cooling at all. Ergonomics: 16" and 2.4 kg, feels lighter compared to the previous model. The case is another story, monolithic, even the lid doesn’t flex when held. Connectivity: well, not quite like a Legion. Ports seem limited at first glance, and they're all on the sides, not the back. There were doubts about HDMI but 4k@60 is fine. Seems sufficient if you have a hub on hand. The only issue is WiFi installation with Windows requires some workarounds, ax211 isn't recognized out of the box, so you need to skip the internet setup and do it manually. That's it for now, might add more later. Screen, 4070, 64 RAM, quiet, cold ax211, tambourine for Windows. Currently, the sound is glitchy, every time you open the lid you have to reset the audio effects, otherwise, the volume cannot be adjusted. No RGB lighting (used on Legion for temperature visualization). Connections on the sides, only 3 USB ports, one of which is 4/Thunderbolt. ![]() |
