The pumping is done from a rainwater collection pit. As it fills up, I water the greenery periodically. There is some light debris, kids sometimes throw stuff in, silt and sediment get in. But it's fine for it, doesn't matter, it lets everything pass through. So, if you don't need to pump out absolutely everything, I can recommend it. Works surprisingly very quietly - doesn't hum loudly during operation. I liked the performance - it pulls excellently with good pressure even with a small drop in height, although in terms of power it's not very strong within the lineup. It easily handles quite large debris up to the three cm described, for sure. I haven't had anything bigger, but it wouldn't go through the openings anyway. Also, the price is acceptable for the money it's sold for, making it one of the most optimal options. In terms of reliability, it's no worse than similar products, overall I really liked it. The hose kinks at the motor exit when the pipe is not pulled up but lies next to the pump; something needs to be done with a stiffer pipe. It doesn't pump out all the water to the floor; quite a bit remains at the bottom. This is likely by design to protect the motor from overheating or running idle. However, leaving this much water seems excessive to me. The remaining water then stagnates and ends up smelling unpleasant. If I had known, I would have chosen a different one that fully pumps out, if such options are available. I didn't delve too deeply into the matter. |

A simple pump to the village or to the country
Pumps with features like the Nasosy plus DSP-550PD are considered entry-level equipment. This model does not break records in terms of power (the engine consumes 550 W), but has a decent performance (11.5 m3 / h). This is quite enough to use the pump as a drainage pump in a summer cottage or garden plot. It can pump liquid with inclusions up to 30 mm in size. Therefore, it can be used for various tasks: from supplying clean water from a well to draining small dirty ponds or ditches. Moreover, this device is able to pump out turbid liquids from septic tanks and biological wastewater treatment plants. But lowering it into a cesspool with a thick slurry, nevertheless, is not worth it, it is not designed for this.
Device and design
The pump body is made of technopolymer, as is the impeller. The shaft is made of stainless steel. The shaft has ceramographite mechanical seals that protect the motor from water. The float switches off the motor if the liquid level drops below a predetermined level to protect it from running dry. Since the pump is not very powerful and has a centrifugal design, it works quite quietly (users note that the water from the hose sprays noisier than the pump “grunts”). The outlet is 1 1/2". It has a plastic herringbone to accommodate more common inch hoses. The only downside to this versatile fitting is that it is flimsy (brittle plastic can break).
Low-cost and versatile
The Nasosy plus DSP-550PD is inexpensive, under $50. Therefore, it is not scary to leave it in the country (however, a device weighing 5.1 kg can easily be carried with you in the boot of a car). Due to the ability to pump not only clean, but also contaminated water, it can be considered as a universal drainage pump for a summer cottage.
