Why is the new processor faster at the same frequency? The main factors that make new processes faster without increasing clock speeds

How to choose a CPU?How to choose the right CPU for any task, from spreadsheets to modern games and work applications
I bought a Phenom x3 8450 (2.3 GHz). It works excellently, and interestingly, I haven't seen a single game that loaded the CPU to 100%; in fact, I rarely see it loaded to 100%. In the boxed version, it came with a regular aluminum cooler. Thermal paste was already applied. On the ASUS M3A78-EMH-HDMI motherboard, I managed to overclock the Phenom 64 X3 8450 processor to 2.53 GHz, but the system wasn't stable at that frequency; the board simply didn't allow setting the voltage. In the end, I could only overclock to 2.4 GHz. This resulted in an overclock of only 14 percent, which is not satisfactory. So, draw your own conclusions. stable in operation, quite a decent cooler in the boxed version. very poor overclocking capabilities ![]() |
AMD Phenom X3 8450 is a fairly reliable model, though I haven't used it for a long time. It served its time and cost quite well, I used it for 5-7 years, it worked well and handled everything that came out back then (a good contribution from a decent graphics card). Not on high settings, often, but on pleasant medium settings. A good thing for its money, but not for today's games and realities. Good quality, lasts more than 10 years. Quite cheap and powerful. Can now be used for assembling, for playing non-demanding games. Has potential when overclocking (provided you overclock both RAM, CPU, and GPU). Probably that even in those years, many games couldn't run on max-medium settings. It's better to look at something a bit more expensive by a couple of thousand, or for the same price if you don't know how to overclock. ![]() |
The Phenom x3 8450 processor (2.3 GHz) leaves much to be desired. XP SP3 is installed. It constantly loads the CPU. Tried overclocking, and overclocking resulted in a mere increase from 2.3 to 2.4. Initially, it reached 2.5 but began to shut down frequently and work unstably overall. Had to reduce the overclocking. Therefore, it's not worth taking at all, complete junk. For this money, you can get an Intel chip with good overclocking capabilities. normal cooler included it's impossible to accelerate, the CPU consistently overloads ![]() |
