From the press release:

Canon has added a powerful new model to its PowerShot series of compact digital cameras: the 10-megapixel PowerShot SX10 IS, which replaces the PowerShot S5 IS.

The camera raises the standard of compact zoom with an exceptional 20x wide-angle (28mm) optical zoom, along with USM and VCM, for fast, quiet zooms. The camera uses Canon's new DIGIC 4 processor for faster performance and more detailed, crisp images in a wide range of photography environments.

Perfect Range
Canon's wide-angle 20x optical (28mm) lens on the PowerShot SX10 IS is suitable for all types of photography, from long distance telephoto shots to vast landscapes. Canon Ultrasonic Motor (USM), combined with Voice Coil Motor (VCM) technology, for near-silent operation and high-speed recording of sports or wildlife subjects. Thanks to Canon's Optical Image Stabilizer, which offers the benefit of 4-stop fine tuning, camera shake avoids image blur, even at full zoom.

10 Megapixel power
The PowerShot SX10 IS features 10 megapixel resolution, capturing all the details you need to create poster-size prints or creative cutting in post-processing. The Canon CMOS sensor enables the PowerShot SX10 IS to capture high-resolution JPEG stills at up to 1.4 frames per second, making the camera a powerful portable tool perfect for capturing fast action sequences.

Create High Definition Video
The PowerShot SX10 IS offers enjoyable, effortless VGA video shooting. Video on both cameras is enhanced with CD-quality stereo sound, optical zoom and facial recognition technology, and if extra range is needed.

DIGIC 4: Intelligent processing for enhanced photos

The PowerShot SX10 IS features a new DIGIC 4 image processor. To deliver ultra-fast performance and produce stunning low-noise images, DIGIC 4 brings several intelligent technologies into play that make it easier than ever to take amazing photos.

Photos of people benefit from improved face detection technology that recognizes faces that are at an angle to the camera or in profile. Face culling and tracking of a specific subject is even more precise, while a new feature, FaceSelf Timer, automatically releases the shutter shortly after a new face enters the frame, making it easier to capture group shots and selfies.

Advanced motion detection technology delivers fantastic, crisp results by registering camera and subject movement and automatically adjusting ISO to prevent image blur. A new servo autofocus (AF) system also serves to prevent image blur by constantly adjusting focus on subjects moving towards or away from the camera.

DIGIC 4 also powers the new i-Contrast engine, which brings out wonderful, natural-looking detail in the dark areas of photos - without darkening the lighter areas.

Full control
For maximum creative precision, the PowerShot SX10 IS offers full manual control of shutter speed and aperture. The knob dial provides keypad access to all key parameters. Plus, compatibility with a range of accessories - including the professional Speedlite EX flash - further expands your creativity.
