Class 2.0 two-way speaker system with a class D "digital" amplifier and switching power supply. The kit is made according to the classic patterns of computer speakers of past years with an emphasis on sound, ease of connection and a minimum of additional functions. Each speaker is equipped with a low-frequency driver, a high-frequency tweeter and a "digital" class D amplifier, which are capable of sounding the frequency range from 65 to 20,000 Hz.
In total, the system delivers 42 watts of power (21 watts per channel). The cabinet of the Edifier R1100 is made from selected MDF boards, which minimize the spurious overtones inherent in budget plastic speakers. Removable decorative covers are placed on the front of each speaker to protect the speakers from physical damage. Thanks to the bass-reflex output on the front panel, the Edifier R1100 speakers can be installed close to the wall without worrying about the sound distortion associated with an excess of bass.
The volume control unit and bass control are traditionally hidden on the back of the active speaker. There is also a pair of RCA inputs for connecting to a signal source. Given the excellent combination between price and sound quality, this set will be the best choice for those users who are looking for a high-quality stereo pair to pair with a PC, laptop or TV, but do not need the advanced features of more expensive speakers from the Edifier R series.

For some time, I used the built-in speakers in the monitor (basic sound quality, no more) and decent headphones. When I saved up some money, I bought these speakers. I specifically chose them because I had previously heard from friends how a similar audio system sounded paired with a discrete sound card. For now, I'm listening to these speakers connected to the sound system built into the motherboard; of course, it differs from a discrete sound card. However, the difference between the built-in monitor speakers and these speakers is phenomenal. I can’t wait until I can buy a quality sound card and connect them together; I am sure the sound will be even better than now. I didn’t turn the audio system to maximum volume because there was no need. Even at 75% volume on the speakers and 55% volume in the OS, they are enough for a standard room. The package is quite standard: a cable for connecting the passive speaker to the active one; a cable for connecting to a PC (3.5 mm - RCA); instruction booklet. The power supply is built into the active speaker, and from it goes the power connection cable to the mains. The sound is mainly balanced with the correct volume setting. In complex scenes with a lot of instruments, there are occasional lacks of detail. Most likely, this is due to the absence of a quality discrete sound card. Sound quality, with the right selection of audio and connection to a high-performance sound source. The purchase price was pleasant (until 2022). Performance is at a high level (the material from which the speakers are made is better than plastic, you can feel it after the first listening). There is enough volume reserve to sound a standard room. Insufficient detail in complex scenes where many instruments are played simultaneously, or various sound sources are assembled. Occasionally, there is a feeling that the left speaker is slightly lagging behind the right one in volume.
