If we don't consider models from AMD, the Quad series is currently a very good purchase. The selection is not rich, only about five models. But in any case, this power will be sufficient for at least another year or two. They have all already transitioned to the new 45nm process - consuming less power and generating less heat. They overclock well. Overall, for little money, you can build a powerful computer. Model Q8400. Overclocked to a frequency of 3.46GHz. The gain is not huge, but it's still nice. Now any games run without issues even with full HD resolution. The cooler starts to make some noise, but it's not too critical. Finding a motherboard is not a problem, the 775 socket is very common now. You can even get a budget one, but there might be issues with overclocking. There are no drawbacks at all. I got exactly what I expected. Even after a year of using this processor, maximum loads almost never occur. The main bottleneck is only in the HDD, but SSDs are still expensive. In my opinion, this is the best choice today in terms of price/performance ratio. I don't understand why everyone is rushing to Core i7 and the like, they are much more expensive. Here we have 4 fairly powerful cores. Maybe for some specific tasks, this won't be enough, but that's a different conversation. Good price, power. Judging by the reviews, it doesn't heat up much, so the cooler shouldn't be too noisy. For all everyday tasks, this processor is more than enough. Even all modern games will run smoothly, although that mostly depends on the graphics card. The overclocking potential is just excellent, up to 3.6 GHz and stable operation. Cash is a bit low. Not bad, but for modern games, you need a good video card like the 750 ti or Radeon R7 360x. used from 2008 to 2014, performed quite well already old but spry i recommend it should buy |
