TLC, QLC, MLC, SLC: which type of drive memory is better?Important differences between the types of NAND memory TLC, QLC, MLC, SLC, which determine the scope of their use and development prospects

How to choose the right SSD?Choosing an SSD with the required speed and good reliability for home, work and gaming
Model overview based on user reviews
The Kingston A2000 M.2 SSD is praised for its good speed and reasonable price, making it a solid choice for average users. It features a Silicon Motion controller and offers a 5-year warranty. Users appreciate its quality, speed, and compactness, although some note it can heat up during intensive tasks and may slow down when nearing full capacity. While some find it outdated compared to newer models, it remains a reliable option with good TLC memory and built-in cache. However, a few users reported reliability issues, such as the SSD disappearing from BIOS. Overall, it is recommended for those seeking a budget-friendly NVMe SSD with decent performance, though it may not meet the needs of those looking for the latest technology.

Good TLC memory with a decent controller and built-in cache, which is quite rare, at least in this price segment Outdated, and, at the moment, you can already find drives for a similar amount with better speeds (however, there is already HMB instead of a physical cache) ![]() |
More than 3 years of stable ACTIVE operation without complaints, BUT when there is 10% free space, the read speed drops to 1900mb/s and the write speed decreases by half, to 1000mb/s. Price (at the time of purchase in 2019), speed, reliability (it has already worked for almost 20 thousand hours!) absolutely nothing ![]() |
I updated my old PC with a regular sata 3 ssd installed and took this one as my first M2 ssd and for the price / quality it’s quite a normal option. I chose specifically with Silicon Motion (they say they die less often), alas, not all of Kingston come with it. In fact, 465 GB is available. By loading Windows, I didn’t feel any significant increase in speed, it still loads 15-20 seconds from the moment the power button + programs are pressed from autorun. Probably it already a crutch of Windows. In terms of speed, Photoshop and Premier Pro run faster, but this is probably the same because the percentage is new and the RAM is 32gbddr4 with a frequency of 3200, while the old one was ddr316gb1600. That is, subjectively, everything has become a little faster, but this is hardly the merit of ssd alone. I thought that 500 GB would be enough for everything, but still, if you still install games, that place ends quickly, especially when modern games weigh 100 GB each, like Destiny 2. If you already have an m2 ssd similar to this one, then this one is like an upgrade such an option , as the first ssd of this format, I can recommend it in medium and budget builds, since analogues have their own shortcomings, and Kingston has been proven over the years. For myself, I decided that it’s better to take something with speeds from 4000 MB next time, but of course they are already in a different price category. - does not heat up, I have a built-in heatsink on the ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING motherboard with it above 40C I did not notice that it would rise - the speed is at the level declared - Silicon Motion controller - 5 years warranty -after switching from a regular sata3 intel ssd with 500MB speed, I did not get the significant increase in speed which I expected - the package includes only the SSD and an activation code for the Acronis software, but the software itself is useless because often, when upgrading the system, not only the SSD is changed but also the processor and motherboard, and in such a case, reinstalling Windows is unavoidable. ![]() |
