A family of shockproof mid-range laptops from the 2023 ThinkBook line. In terms of their technical capabilities, they largely repeat the more expensive ThinkPad laptops, but with some simplifications. In particular, there is no 2K screen, the body is made of aluminium and plastic, not magnesium alloy, like the ThinkPad. But there is a comfortable ergonomic keyboard, a massive touchpad with support for gesture control, a Wi-Fi 6 network module, a card reader, fast charging, and much more.
The most commonly used 6-core Ryzen 5 processor (Barcelo family, Zen 3 microarchitecture) with 8/16 GB DDR4 RAM and NVMe SSD up to 512 GB is used as the motor in the Lenovo ThinkBook 15 G4. An alternative to them are more expensive and productive builds based on a 16-thread Ryzen 7 CPU with 16 GB of RAM and multiple drives. The latter options are quite suitable for the role of a mobile workstation.
Also on sale there are modifications based on Ryzen 3 with 8 GB of RAM. This option may appeal to people for whom battery life is much more important than processor power. Regardless of the processor, all representatives of this series are equipped with 15.6-inch mid-range IPS screens with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, extremely wide viewing angles, a standard margin of brightness and modest color reproduction (45% NTSC coverage).
To ensure high-quality video communication, the laptop has a built-in webcam with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and two omnidirectional microphones. The TPM encryption module, an anti-theft lock and a fingerprint scanner built into the power button are responsible for the security of user data. Plus, the ThinkBook 15 laptops stand out with their compact and durable design (weight 1.7 kg, thickness 19 mm, MIL-STD-810 rating), which makes them useful companions for working outside the home or office.

Excellent working option. Sturdy casing, good processor, and hardware overall. The battery is quite small, but it can be charged via Type C, and any power bank with Power Delivery will suffice for charging if there's no power adapter at hand. Out of the box, it comes with a budget M2 drive and only two slots for such drives. Added a KC3000 for the system, and the laptop became even faster. One of the RAM slots is replaceable, allowing you to upgrade from a cheap stick to something faster. I installed 32 GB from Kingston, which is the maximum additional volume - this not only boosted the integrated graphics but also allows working with graphic applications and playing Cyberpunk at medium settings. I bought it in June at Allo, where they offered a substantial discount for a display version after someone scratched the top cover, either with a watch or keys. I recommend both the laptop and Allo. Light and strong. I have been carrying it with me to work all over Ukraine for four months in my bag - no matter what. Small battery Only one slot for RAM upgrade ![]() |
