Fortunately, I don't have the habit of storing all data in one place. Apart from a few unimportant details, everything was saved. Now I'm sitting here pondering what to do next. Even if they restore this drive for me at the service center or give me a new one instead, I no longer trust such a drive :( I'll be getting one from another company. But first, I'll scour the internet to find out about such issues. Large capacity in a relatively small case. Flash drives are more convenient, but I haven't seen any 2-terabyte models for sale yet. With this, you can make backups and bring tons of movies from friends. It's well-assembled, with a beautiful design. The short cable is convenient for a laptop, with no cable coil on the table. It doesn't make noise or heat up. It supports USB 3.0. You can't do without it with such capacities... It would seem like a disc with all positives, just grab and enjoy. But no... After three weeks of use, it just died. There were no prior reasons for this. It simply wouldn't power on one day and that's it :( Not recognized by any system. Internet searches showed that I'm not the only one who faced this problem. It might be a quite common defect. use WD Elements Portable 3.0 2.5" month or more i recommend it don't buy |
It's not clear yet. I just bought it the day before yesterday and connected it once to see SMART. As of today, November 5, 2017, there are 105 reviews on this propeller on the website nadavi.com.ua, of which 1/3 are negative, 2/3 are positive. Before that I used similar WD screws for 350 Gig, and then for 1 TB. I have been using the latter since January 2013, i.e., almost 5 years. The design and engineering of the casing surprised me. It is biconvex. Both the lid and the bottom of the box, which contains the drive, are. Yes, it is visually appealing, but try to place it properly on its legs. The adhesive rubber legs are sized: diameter 4 mm, height about 1.5-2 mm. However, the height of the legs is insufficient, and they don't reach the supporting surface, so the box with the hard drive just spins on the "belly" of the convex bottom of the case! No stability on the supporting surface! Probably, so it would fall more often. ;-) It seems the manufacturer skimped on the legs. I scoured the internet. It seems that, for this design, legs with a size of: diameter 6 mm, height 3-4 mm would have been suitable. But they are a couple of cents more expensive than those provided by the designers. just bought WD WDBU6Y0020BBK |
I think I overpaid a bit. But this is one of those cases where you don't regret the expense. Everything works and works perfectly. And what could be more important? I've already transferred a huge amount of information with it. Dropped it once, luckily from a low height. Even if it breaks, I would look for exactly the same one. Compact and very aesthetically pleasing device. It operates quickly and quietly. There's plenty of space, and even with prolonged use, it doesn't heat up. I've only read good things about this model, and I couldn't find any mention of breakdowns online. Overall, I trust this company, I've used its products all my life and have never encountered any problems. Honestly, the price tag is way too high. I do understand it's a big brand, but this is just over the top. The cord in the set is too short, I had to buy an extension separately. The software included is just terrible. And it's only a one-month trial. It would have been better not to include anything at all than this nonsense. I deleted it right away. use WD Elements Portable 3.0 2.5" month or more i recommend it should buy |
