PSU powered game controllers
Powered by power supply
— powered by a separate unit (PSU) connected to a regular household outlet.Such power can provide very high, by the standards of game controllers, power. On the other hand, it creates additional inconvenience (sometimes quite noticeable) due to the presence of another wire. Therefore, this format of operation is found mainly in wired controllers (see "Type of connection"), for which the power supply from the USB port is no longer enough — namely, in high-end steering wheels with powerful feedback systems (see "Functions and capabilities"). In other words, power from the PSU is an unmistakable sign of the presence of advanced feedback — most often force feedback (although there are models that support only vibration).
Also note that this type of power supply can also be used in wireless devices — for similar reasons. However, such solutions were not popular.
