Blackview S8 64 GB / 4 GB

An inexpensive smartphone that mimics the eighth "galaxy" (meaning the flagship of Samsung — the Galaxy S8 model) really bears a close resemblance to the Korean counterpart. He Blackview S8 spied a widescreen display with slightly sloping side edges. The image is displayed on the screen at a resolution of 1440x720 pixels, which, with a diagonal of 5.7", provides a pixel density of 282ppi — enough so that the individual points from which the picture is built are not conspicuous.
On the "iron" before us appears a typical guest from the Middle Kingdom, standing at the turn of the primary and middle classes. At the heart of the smartphone is an “octa-core” MediaTek MT6750T, supplemented by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory. The cameras in the arsenal of the device are made according to the scheme “the main module in conjunction with an auxiliary one to create the bokeh effect” — this is the main camera (13 + 0.3 MP) and even the front camera (8 + 0.3 MP). From a battery with a capacity of 3180 mAh, the gadget is powered by energy for one day with a total of 4-5 hours of display activity.

Personally, I bought this model for the combination of a really interesting and modern design, licked from the Samsung S8 model, sane performance and an affordable price. I like the big 5.7-inch screen with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Although it does not have the highest resolution, its native 1440x720 is enough for me, 282 dpi is a good pixel density and there is no pixelation or "fringe" of fonts. The processor used here is mediocre, but it’s not my leisure to play advanced games, but it copes with ordinary applications and navigation easily and naturally. And it also has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory, so you definitely won’t have to compromise and put a microSD card instead of a second SIM card. It is also worth noting that the cameras are quite good for such a price category. It may not be easy to get a good picture indoors, but they shoot quite sensibly on the street. But keep in mind that the feature with dual cameras is a marketing trick, there is almost no sense from the second modules. The device lies comfortably in the hand and, despite the smooth plastic + glass, does not slip at all. Fast charging supported (9Vx2A) The proprietary shell from Blackview and their applications are buggy in places. The camera crashes at times, the browser, and even the basic voice app is not always stable. I don’t understand at all why Chinese manufacturers of the second or third tier are trying to change the stock Android. If you really want to do this, then you need to do it carefully, with mass beta testing and bug fixes. And what kind of mass testing can there be for a manufacturer stupidly releasing clones? )) And because of this shell, the phone is voracious and actively eats the battery even in sleep mode. Batteries with a capacity of 3180 mAh only last for one day, and it's not a fact that the phone will last until the evening. Translation into Russian is clumsy, there are English inscriptions. There is no minijack and headphones must be connected through a stupid adapter. |
Appearance in the style of the Galaxy S8
When designing a new smartphone, Blackview decided not to reinvent the wheel and copied the successful design of the Samsung Galaxy S8. Moreover, they did it in good faith — outwardly, smartphones are easy to confuse, and only the company logo on the back panel “burns the office”. If you remove it, it will be very similar — the Chinese tried and famously copied not only the front part, but also the glossy back of the flagship from Samsung.
Octa-core processor
However instead of tempered glass, we have here high-quality, but easily soiled polycarbonate.
In terms of hardware, the Blackview S8 is a typical guest from the Middle Kingdom. The engine of the smartphone is the "octa-core" MediaTek MT6750T, supplemented by 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of permanent memory. By default, this performance is enough to manage the operating system, applications and run not too demanding games. However, the smartphone uses its own launcher, which is inferior in speed to pure Android and occasionally freezes for a couple of seconds.
The sluggishness of the Blackview S8 also manifests itself in a long unlock. The fingerprint scanner works almost instantly, but the smartphone itself wakes up in about 1.5 seconds. By the standards of state employees, this is not fatal, but the appearance and price of the Blackview S8 encourages you to demand more from it.
There is USB-C, but no regular audio jack
Also, the logic of Blackview to abandon the 3.5 connector is incomprehensible. If you copied the Galaxy S8, then why remove it? He's in the original. Moreover, USB-C for a low-cost smartphone is never a necessity.
Dual camera with Sony modules
The main hook for smartphone buyers is a pair of dual cameras with modules from Sony, which serve to create a blur effect. But the blur effect itself looks a little strange, it looks more like a banal vignetting, that is, the usual blurring of the background. Most likely this is a software problem and will be solved over time. And all this creates a somewhat contradictory impression: we have good looks, dual cameras and good hardware, but they are negatively balanced by a sluggish shell, strange engineering solutions and camera software.
