Two hundred meters from the house, there is a nice coniferous grove. When my son was little, we used to enjoy long walks there, and now we ride our bikes through it. The thing is, if you go through the forest (about 3 km) and a bit further along the dirt road (another one and a half), you can reach a descent to the water. There is a medium-sized stocked pond and a small river. The route isn't very long, but it runs exclusively on dirt forest and field roads. So, I bought appropriate bikes. This model was purchased for myself last spring. A strong and resilient bicycle, which allows you to ride over branches, roots, and other small obstacles without hesitation and without significantly slowing down. The frame is steel. Naturally, I considered aluminum, but I needed to buy two bikes, one for myself and one for my son, and my budget was limited. However, aside from its drawbacks, a steel frame has one major advantage - it is nearly indestructible. The highlight of the bike is its 27.5-inch wheels. It's a compromise between the smoothness and ride comfort of 29-inch wheels and the maneuverability and light weight of the 26-inch size. Thanks to high-quality tires, I feel very confident on dirt roads, the tread grips excellently, and skidding only happens on purpose. The brakes are reliable, disc type, with large rotors. 21 speeds, ensured by good Shimano shifters. Due to the steel frame, the weight exceeded 20 kg. At first, the saddle seemed a bit hard. But that's more of a personal preference; I got used to it in a couple of weeks, and now it seems fine. |
