Gigabyte Radeon RX Vega 56 GV-RXVEGA56GAMING OC-8GD
![]() | Outdated Product 6 488 ₴ One of the affordable performance gaming graphics cards of 2018 model year based on AMD Vega 56 GPU with HBM2 progressive graphics memory. The manufacturer is positioning itself as a solution of the middle price category, the prices of which were reduced under pressure from the products of the main competitor (Nvidia RTX 2060 and GTX 1660Ti models). It features a small factory overclock and the use of a proprietary 3-slot WindForce 2X cooling system based on a powerful two-section radiator, five heat pipes and two durable 95 mm axial fans. It is noteworthy that when there is no load on the GPU, the fans stop and the video adapter cooling system switches to a passive (silent) mode of operation. It has impressive overall dimensions (length 274 mm), which imposes certain requirements on the c...ase. It weighs about 1250 g. The Gigabyte Radeon RX Vega 56 GV-RXVEGA56GAMING OC-8GD graphics card provides comfortable gameplay in any popular game projects of 2015-2019 at a resolution of 1920x1080 with the highest possible game graphics quality settings. In most situations, it can show a consistently high frame rate even at 2560x1440. Equipped with a reinforced 13-phase (12 + 1) GPU power subsystem, which has the necessary safety margin for custom overclocking. Equipped with six interface ports. |

In my opinion, the best non-ref. No unnecessary frills, no lighting - just ultra-efficient cooling system, 12-phase VRM, and excellent overclocking. Just like any Vega, it initially works at a very high voltage, the chip frequency is much below its limit, and the power consumption hits the BIOS-set limit of 224 watts. Reduce the voltage to 950 mV for state 6 and 1000 mV for state 7 - you get a frequency close to the limit with the same (!!!) power consumption. For overclocking, you need 1000 and 1050 mV respectively, and the result is impressive. Maintaining a frequency of 1620-1640 MHz was only possible underwater with a reference Vega, but here - standard air cooling and no flashing with an alternative BIOS. The most compact Vega non-reference card is 275 mm in length, ensuring no installation issues in the case in 99% of situations. Moreover, the card is very quiet; in my case, in the standard mode and undervolt, the maximum fan speed is about 1600 rpm, which is barely audible. After overclocking, it reaches 2000 rpm: louder but not irritating. Maximum temperatures are 64 degrees on the chip in stock and 71 after overclocking. Overclocking on the native BIOS with undervolt is 1640 MHz on the GPU and 925 MHz on the memory. Flashing the BIOS from the 64 Vega or modifying the registry can achieve better memory overclocking, but I haven't experimented with that yet. Performance-wise in FullHD and 2K is a complete equivalent to the RTX 2060, in both standard mode and with both cards overclocked. The board is a non-reference design - you can’t just go and upload the BIOS from Vega 64 LC, like the one on the ref. But this is more nitpicking. ![]() |
I got it for a reasonable price of 8.6k UAH, which is good news. On the downside, the system began to freeze with it, the power supply was 700 watt from Chiftek, I tried for a long time to solve the problem, eventually I demolished the system and installed it again (Win 10). It still froze, then I went to the off-site, downloaded the latest driver from there, rolled it up without anything unnecessary, just installed the graphics driver (without audio, error analysis and any unnecessary crap), and in the end the system worked. For the last week it has been working without any complaints, which is good news. Looks like he won. For its price, there are no competitors in terms of performance. The 1660 Ti is just far behind, even though it costs more. Solving problems with freezing, I really didn’t like the hemorrhoids. I blame the power supply more or the Chinese mother, but still there were no such problems with Nvidea. ![]() |
