Klipsch RP-402S

The American company Klipsch has been producing Hi-Fi and Hi-End speaker systems for many decades, so a pair of RP-402S bipolar cabinets are in demand in many countries around the world. The equipment costs about $600.

External design

Each speaker is equipped with 4 drivers placed in a rectangular case with beveled edges. Despite almost 6 kg of each cabinet, thanks to its compact dimensions of 30x26x17 cm, it can be placed on a shelf or hung on a wall using a special bracket provided on the rear panel. The cabinet is made of 6-ply MDF and is available in walnut or ebony vinyl.

Sound features

The system uses Wide Dispersion Surround (WDST) technology to provide amazing sound detail. The 25 mm high-frequency drivers are made of titanium and are arranged linearly, so the sound is not distorted. The horns have a round neck and a square bell, which extends the high frequency spectrum and improves the dynamic range. Constructions are made of polymer, damping noise and improving the clarity of sound.

The 102 mm woofers are made of copper with a Cerametallic ceramic coating that increases resistance to high sound pressure. By the way, here it is claimed at the level of 93 dB, with a total peak power of the system of 300 W, so the system can be freely used for a room up to 30 m².

The speakers are covered by black magnetically shielded grilles, but look nice without them.

In general, the Klipsch RP-402S is an excellent addition to the Reference Premier series, without which it will not be possible to get a full-fledged surround effect.
