Model overview based on user reviews
The Rode VideoMic Go is a lightweight, entry-level microphone designed for video cameras, featuring an anti-vibration mount and the convenience of working without a battery. While it includes a removable cord for easy replacement, the sound quality is considered mediocre, with users noting it is not significantly better than some built-in camera microphones, such as the Canon 700D. The microphone's directionality is described as almost omnidirectional, contrary to its supercardioid claim. Users have reported issues with electrical noise, especially outdoors, making it more suitable for indoor speech recording from a short distance. Overall, it is recommended only if the camera's existing sound quality is particularly poor.
Pros
Cons
for serious sound recording it's not suitable, the microphone is purely entry-level for speech recording from a short distance anti-vibration mount, works without a battery the sound quality is mediocre, not much better than the built-in microphone on the Canon 700D, except the Canon has stereo sound. The directionality is far from supercardioid, it captures sound almost omnidirectionally. use Rode VideoMic Go less than month |
Not to say that it’s downright bad, but it’s a very weak model. Can only be borrowed for indoor recording. Works without a battery, removable cord (if damaged, you can just buy more). Noises. Especially on the street there is electrical noise, just rustling. Maybe it's just me, of course, or I just don't know a way to solve the problem. If anyone knows, I would be glad for advice) ![]() |
