A quick glance at the Xiaomi 12S Ultra from the side of the leather “back” reveals a huge block of the main camera, stylized as a camera lens. This design was chosen for a reason - potentially the smartphone is one of the best photo flagships of our time.

Collaboration with Leica

The model was the first sign from Xiaomi, created in collaboration with the reputable company Leica. The specialists of the German manufacturer of photographic equipment had a hand in the optical design of the lens of the main camera and introduced several proprietary shooting modes into the camera software shell (as on Leica cameras). The leading image sensor of the rear camera of the smartphone is built on an inch Sony IMX989 matrix with a resolution of 50.3 MP. It uses a highly effective HyperOIS optical stabilization system, and two additional sensors of 48 MP each are responsible for shooting at a wide angle and with 5x optical zoom. The smartphone shoots video in Dolby Vision HD format at resolutions up to 8K.

AMOLED display

The screen of the device also deserves exceptional praise. This is an LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel with a curved surface shape. The display is characterized by a resolution of 3200x1400 pixels, has a diagonal size of 6.73 inches, and an adaptive refresh rate of the picture in the range from 1 to 120 Hz is also declared for it. A fingerprint scanner has settled in the sub-screen layer to unlock the smartphone by fingerprint.

Flagship equipment

The hardware part of the device is headed by a 4-nanometer Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Its heat is very hot and even the “insides” cooling system does not help to cool it – throttling is pronounced during prolonged heavy loads. However, on all other fronts, Xiaomi 12S Ultra fully corresponds to the title of a charged flagship: the model is armed with Harman Kardon stereo speakers, supports fast wired and reverse wireless battery charging, carries an infrared port and advanced communication modules (Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth v 5.3) on board , possesses water protection of the case IP68. The model definitely deserves close attention.
