The first step in the hierarchy of Xiaomi smartphones is occupied by a huge family of state employees Redmi:

Redmi (low-cost segment)

The model range of the Redmi line is addressed to ordinary users who do not pursue high performance. Low-cost smartphones are often based on Snapdragon 400 series chipsets or entry-level processors from MediaTek (much less often). The internal circuitry of Redmi devices is “built” on inexpensive components for the sake of accessibility to the wide user masses. Therefore, the usual amount of memory for smartphones of the family is 2/3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM. Models with 64 GB of non-volatile memory began to actively breed only in the last two generations of the Redmi group ( Xiaomi Redmi 7 64GB, Xiaomi Redmi 8 64GB). Also, the devices of the line have a minimalist design.

“Under the hood” Xiaomi Redmi 8 “settled” a long-lasting 5000 mAh battery.

Mi Play (low-cost segment)

Almost all of the above applies to the only “fighter” of the Mi Play squad from the Xiaomi 2018 lineup. It has a slightly better screen (2280x1080 pixels), more memory (6/64 GB) and a more austere appearance. Since then, there have been no updates in the Mi Play series (at least at the time of publication of the material).

Redmi Note (middle class)

The Redmi Note product line includes mainly mid-low-cost smartphones with a large diagonal, as a round of development of the classic Redmi series. They are very close in characteristics to their younger colleagues, but outperform smartphones of a purely budgetary level in several key points of the programme:

  • display dimensions diagonally;
  • screen resolution (FullHD+ vs. HD+);
  • more productive hardware base (600th numbered chipsets from Qualcomm);
  • advanced photo and video capabilities.
Interesting fact! Since January 2019, Xiaomi has given the Redmi brand an independent status. This approach allowed the Chinese tech giant to more clearly position the brand's products and better meet the needs of the audience.

The most chic of the Redmi Note series are models with the Pro prefix. Take, for example, fresh Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro 64 GB / 6 GB , which was equipped with a Mediatek Helio G90T gaming processor with liquid cooling, 6/64 GB of memory, a 64 MP main camera module with a large physical matrix size (1/2") and even an NFC chip.This is the level of a solid mid-range smartphone at a very attractive price.

Pocophone (mid-range +)

A close line of Redmi Note in spirit can be called the experimental Pocophone series. The first swallow from this order left the nest in 2018. It was the concept of an perfect top smartphone with a bet on the highest affordable price. Accent at Poco F1 128 GB was put on a powerful "iron" bundle of the top Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6/64 GB of memory, photographic ambitions, fast battery charging (18 W). They decided to save money on elements that are not related to performance, so the appearance of the smartphone turned out to be ordinary, and the plastic shell served as the material for the manufacture of its “shell”.

Pocophone F1 is a “racing” smartphone from the Middle Kingdom, which has no equal in performance in its price category.

Xiaomi is one of the few companies that singles out especially large-caliber smartphones into a separate niche.

Max (phablets)

The Mi Max series are mainly phablets with average hardware and a pronounced focus on the comfort of consuming multimedia content. It's no joke, the diagonal of the last of the "Maxes" ( Xiaomi Mi Max 3) has come close to the tablet league of devices (6.9 inches). Another strong point of the smartphones of the line is long-term autonomy, due to the use of high-capacity batteries (over 5000 mAh).

Mix (mine of technological innovation)

Mi Mix smartphones are already the top segment, which served to test the most advanced achievements in the smartphone industry. For example, the debutant of the family was completely devoid of near-screen frames (for the first time among peers), it also did not have a conversational speaker (the sound was transmitted by vibrations of the ceramic case). The second iteration of the "Mix" was armed with a "shifter" selfie camera. The smartphone in the third knee was “built” in the slider form factor.

Finally, the most innovative model turned out to be Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha 512 GB / 12 GB with wraparound screen, released in 2019 in a limited edition of 500 pieces.

Mi (top grade)

Mi series mobile devices are home to the best practices of Xiaomi engineers. "Mi" category dishes are made from the most powerful "stuffing" in combination with exquisite design and strong photographic ambitions. Place Xiaomi Mi Note 10 128 GB / 6 GB in the top three best camera phones as of the beginning of 2020 is the best confirmation of this.

On board Xiaomi Mi Note 10 one of the most advanced mobile cameras of our time is installed.

Upon closer examination, the flagships of Xiaomi are still inferior to the top solutions from A-brands, but they are somewhere behind the next wall with them. The main trump card of the premium segment of Xiaomi smartphones is the same attractive price tag. For example, the flagship Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro 128 GB costs about half as much as a top smartphone Samsung Galaxy S10 128 GB Price from 6 349 up to 43 148 ₴. The cost of savings may turn out to be an “aftertaste” in the manner of “buggy” software or a camera slightly worse than that of rivals.

Good to know. Standing apart in the Mi series are three generations of “hard nuts” of the middle class on the stock Android One system. A clean “OS” under the sign of a green droid without branded add-ons is the main character trait of Xiaomi Mi A1, Xiaomi Mi A2 and Xiaomi Mi A3 smartphones (along with their light versions). However, all of them are relined from other mid-low-cost models of the Mi line.

Redmi K (top grade in Chinese)

"Flagship killers" in the Chinese style, almost each of which has been assigned a "global" alternative from the Mi series. The symbol "K" in the naming of the ruler means "Killer". This is one of the youngest series of the Chinese vendor, which has yet to unleash its full potential.

Black Shark (gaming)

Realizing that competing on equal terms with A-brands in the major league of the company's smartphones is too tough, Xiaomi quickly occupied the free niche of gaming "mobile phones". It was in it that the brand's ability to make truly first-class smartphones was revealed at 100%.

Xiaomi's "Black Sharks" rule the arena of gaming smartphones.

"Black Sharks" from Xiaomi in two generations is an example of the most "charged" mobile devices with an eye to the user's complete immersion in virtual game worlds. Models of the Black Shark product line are distinguished by their non-standard design, “fast” screens (with an increased refresh rate), powerful hardware with advanced cooling systems, and backlighting (like “adult” gaming equipment). The crown of the evolution of the series to date - Black Shark 2 Pro 256 GB / 12 GB , powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 3.0 onboard storage.

And although gaming smartphones are not so in demand among a wide audience, only a few competitors can compete with Xiaomi's "black sharks" on an equal footing. This series is considered to be the most advanced in the portfolio of the Chinese brand.
