Introduced in 2021, the TV box is one of Mecool's flagship solutions. The brand line also has a simpler version of the KM6 Classic box, but it is inferior both in terms of “hardware” and external presentability. The Deluxe model received 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory (against the background of 2/32 GB for the younger brother), provides a Wi-Fi 6 wireless module and a gigabit LAN port (instead of Wi-Fi 5 and a 100-megabit connector).
The Mecool KM6 Deluxe media player has been certified by Google, which means not only the licensed Android TV 10 operating system with all its advantages, but also Chromecast support, as well as the ability to voice search (interaction with Google Assistant). The appropriate microphone is built into the complete control panel. The set-top box will allow you to watch videos with UltraHD 4K resolution and frame rates up to 60 fps. It also works correctly with HDR content and reproduces multi-channel audio. I've been using this TV box for about half a year. Before that, I had the "Xiaomi Mi Box S" from 2016. I bought the TV box for my kids to watch cartoons, movies, YouTube, and have the option to play simple games. The console handles the tasks quite well. It connects to the router via Wi-Fi and manages video playback excellently. For games, I bought and connected an ipega 9157 joystick via Bluetooth - it works flawlessly. The original remote is perfectly sufficient for navigating the menu, and it's especially convenient that after syncing with the TV remote, you can turn the TV and the console on and off simultaneously. There is an issue with the connection between the Keenetic router and the set-top box - it can be fixed by disabling "seamless roaming" in Keenetic. use Mecool KM6 Deluxe few months |
Before this, I hadn't dealt with TV boxes. The appearance is nice, and the size is compact. The remote is pleasantly minimalist, but the buttons make an annoying clicking sound. At first impression, it seems to have problems connecting to the internet when waking from sleep (both via Wi-Fi and Ethernet), although not always. TorrServe Matrix 110 required quite an effort to install, and I never managed to get NUM to work. It reads a 32GB MicroSD and a 1TB external hard drive perfectly. It can be used as a retro console for 8-16 bit games, but it can't handle PlayStation 1 (emulator - Duckstation) 3D games, with significant slowdowns in Silent Hill, no matter how you tweak the settings. Simple PSP games run well (Little Big Planet, Disgaea 2). The Mocute 050 wireless gamepad works with this box. Final thoughts: Mixed impressions - it seems capable of a lot, but always with some caveats and nuances. Everything needs to be set up, and there's no guarantee it will work. I wish it had more performance. It's very disappointing that it can't handle heavy PS1 games. Quick in the menu, omnivorous The remote is not great, the box requires a lengthy setup.
