. The Tamron 17-50mm lens is close to wide-angle (17-50mm) in terms of focal lengths. The model is notable for two features: versatility of use (suitable for Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Sony) and constant aperture of 2.8 throughout the entire range of focal lengths. The minimum aperture is 32. Autofocus is provided by a micromotor.

There were 2 units and both were blurry, so I returned them. And then a month later, while passing by this store again, I decided to look in and noticed a new batch. Well, without hoping for a miracle, I asked the seller for a new (next) lens, and oh miracle.... hooray!!! There is justice in this world, and my sufferings came to an end, here it is, a sharp, clear standard zoom lens. As a hobbyist, I get immense pleasure from this lens, the pictures turn out just as interesting, sharp, and artistic as with my other favorite, inexpensive 50/1.8D lens. If you get lucky with your choice, you will get a lot of pleasure from the lens. It is used on a Nikon D90. Constant aperture, sharpness from F2.8, price, zoom 17-50. The focus ring rotates when autofocusing, it buzzes loudly, you need to select it specifically for the body. ![]() |
I conducted tests on the back, the front - normal. The sharpness test showed decent results, and at all focal lengths, this Tamron has a clear advantage over the kit. To achieve good sharpness, it's better to use an aperture starting from 5.6, although 4 and 2.8 also work, but the edges of the frame have weaker sharpness, though it's acceptable for portraits. At 50mm, it is comparable to the 50 1.8, slightly inferior to the latter in detail. In terms of bokeh, we know that the 50 - 1.8 is not sharp, sharpness starts at 2.8, while with the zoom, 2.8 is quite usable and suitable for portraits. At 17mm, to avoid blur, the aperture needs to be stopped down, and there is noticeable barrel distortion, which is not evident in the kit at 18mm. At focal lengths from 24 to 50, sharpness and detail are at a good level, considering it is a zoom. VERDICT: In terms of image quality, this lens, although praised by many, is not very far from the latest series kit, although it definitely has 100% advantages. Portraits are indeed much better than the kit, but the rest... I didn't notice super, mega quality in it, even though the specimen I got was decent. It is certainly better than the kit, but the cost is also appropriate. I think that if you use a good flash, and generally good lighting, you might not notice the difference from the kit. For someone who has outgrown the kit and 50mm 1.8, the next step is good fast zooms. This Tamron is for those who don't do photography professionally and don't want to spend significant sums on expensive lenses. For an advanced amateur, the quality will be quite sufficient. Good construction, lens hood, official warranty 2 years, bright, good autofocus Autofocus is good, but it lags in low light. When focusing, the motor ring catches on fingers, creating discomfort and potentially causing damage. It's necessary to constantly control the finger position during focusing. At 17 mm it's a bit soft, needs to stop down the aperture, noticeable barrel distortion. Used analogs: Kit 18-55 with IS, 50 mm 1.8 ![]() |
for me, as a not very demanding user, the picture is quite acceptable well, by itself I’m very pleased with the aperture ratio, it helps a lot in dark places, it lathers up the background they are always the same for such brands, choosing 3-5 of them results in one high-quality one, be very careful with this ![]() |
