Model overview based on user reviews
The Canon 16-35mm f/2.8L EF USM II lens is highly regarded for its versatility and excellent color rendition, making it ideal for a range of photography styles, including wide-angle and portrait shots. Users appreciate its fast and convenient zoom, which is particularly useful for capturing genre scenes and events. While the lens is praised for its sharpness and ease of use, some users note that it is expensive and that the quality varies across different focal lengths and apertures. The lens can exhibit some distortion and chromatic aberration, but these can be corrected with software like Lightroom. Despite some concerns about build quality and the need for additional filters, many users find the lens to be an excellent choice for professionals, especially for creative and unexpected shots. Overall, its versatility and performance justify the price for those seeking a reliable wide-angle lens.

I spent a long time choosing a lens for a wide angle. What attracted me to this glass was the fairly good photo quality and build quality (reliable). Used in full frame for both wide-angle geometry portraits and regular 35mm portraits. Indispensable for travel, very versatile. Taking into account the fact that the zoom needs to get used to different quality at different focal lengths and with different aperture values. There is very little chromatitis, but Lightroom can help if necessary. Of course, there is distortion at a wide angle, but again, if necessary, you can correct it with Lightroom. It doesn’t bother me, but on the contrary, I really like it. As a result, I can say that I am completely satisfied with the lens; its versatility completely justifies its price. I can’t compare them with primes, since a kit to cover all focal lengths 16-35 costs a completely different amount of money. Versatile. Good color rendition. Doesn't limp. Holds backlight well and produces beautiful rays when you tighten the aperture. Expensive. There is no stable result at all focal lengths. A good filter is not cheap. ![]() |
Good creative lens. For those who want new, unexpected shots. Fast, convenient zoom, not only for working indoors, with a short focus - amazing photo composition. Very good for filming genre scenes, reports, events, when the fact of photography itself is important, and not compliance with proportions and straight lines. Doesn't attract attention With skill, you can avoid the "bulging" effect of the center of the frame, but for a real portrait, it's a no-go. A decent diameter for the filter - but it's also a drawback - the choice of suppliers and stores is limited. ![]() |
