One of my best lenses. Expensive, but the results are always top-notch.
29 February 2020
One of my favorite lenses. Primarily because of its very high-quality rendering and uniqueness. Although I have quite a collection of optics, I can almost certainly recognize the 105 by its rendering among many photos. Portraits are its passion; they turn out just right, and sometimes even better. At the same time, I can't say that it's purely a portrait lens. I manage to capture the city, nature, and still life with it. If you want bokeh, it's always crystal-clear, very pleasant, even gentle. Just comparing it to the 44-2 Helios, the 105 provides softer bokeh, but the background becomes even more blurred. Overall, it's hard to describe, you just need to compare in practice. I don't see the point in listing technical specifications since I shoot visually. I don't shoot videos, so the noise of the motor didn't concern me at all. It's not noisy; you could say it's almost inaudible. It's somewhat heavy and bulky. Almost the same weight as the camera body. Delivers usable shots at all apertures. Sharpness is almost always very good. But probably the sharpest and most beautiful shots are at apertures 3.5-4. I also really like 2.8 and 1.6. The latter is perfect for artistic still life. Chromatic aberrations don't bother me at all. Very satisfied with the lens, and I have never regretted the purchase.
Quality glass for excellent portrait photography and more. Beautiful bokeh and sharpness. Almost all apertures provide excellent sharpness, yet all are functional. The motor is quiet.
Bulky and heavy, but it couldn't be otherwise. Therefore, these are just thoughts spoken aloud. The price.
