Video oriented mirrorless camera with a 24-megapixel full-frame image sensor under the hood. The camera has found application 5-axis matrix stabilization system Active IS. The stabilizer provides compensation of up to 5 stops of shutter speed or exposure when using only the matrix system and up to 6.5 stops when adding stabilization in the lens. Also, phase autofocus appeared in the model, more precisely, it is a hybrid and consists of 779 focusing points.
Henceforth, the Panasonic DC-S5 II body autofocus system recognizes people's faces and eyes, animal faces, and vehicles in the frame. Image processing is run by Panasonic and Leica's co-developed L² processor. For dessert, advanced video shooting capabilities are prepared in the model. The camera allows you to record footage in 3:2 aspect ratio from the full height of the sensor in 6K resolution up to 30 fps (4:2:0, 10-bit).
In the 4K frame format, from the full width of the matrix, it is allowed to record video with a frame rate of 30 fps, and from the APS-C zone at a frame rate of 60 fps. At the same time, it is possible to work with 4:2:2 subsampling and 10-bit color. Separately, the model features a vectorscope, LUT support, work with anamorphic optics, V Log/V Gamut, HLG. Unlimited video recording time is ensured by the built-in cooling fan. The footage is supposed to be stored on one of two UHS-II class SD memory cards (two slots are allocated for them). The body of the mirrorless camera is dust and moisture resistant.

The second edition of the Panasonic DC-S5 full-frame mirrorless camera is a versatile photo and video shooting tool that belongs to the solid mid-range of full-frame cameras created for passionate photographers and videographers.
Perfect autofocus
One of the long-awaited innovations in this camera is the phase autofocus, implemented using sensors located directly on the matrix. There are 779 such sensors in total. The camera's autofocus successfully recognizes the eyes and faces of people, as well as the faces of animals and various vehicles. The ability to track objects and performance in low light have been significantly improved.
Effective stabilization
The camera is equipped with a 24-megapixel matrix and an in-camera stabilization system Active IS. In combination with stabilized optics, the matrix stabilizer allows you to gain up to 6.5 stops of shutter speed or exposure, and with regular lenses - compensates up to 5 steps. For storing footage, there are two slots for UHS-II SD cards. In addition, the body of the model has dust and moisture protection.
Video shooting capabilities
Like other Panasonic cameras, the model focuses on advanced video recording capabilities. Video recording is possible in 6K OpenGate 3:2 using the entire matrix area (4:2:0, 10 bit). In 4K, shooting also occurs from the full width of the sensor at a frame rate of up to 30 fps, and with the APS-C crop factor, the frequency can be increased to 60 fps. 4:2:2 subsampling, 10-bit color, V Log / V Gamut and HLG are supported. More extensive video capabilities are implemented in the related Panasonic DC-S5 IIX model, which can output RAW video in ProRes. To avoid overheating during video shooting, the mirrorless camera is equipped with a built-in active cooling fan.
