It's no secret that there is a clear species hierarchy in the family of cameras. Simple digital compacts are located at the lower levels, and the highest echelons of power are represented by full-frame mirrors and mirrorless mirrors, or even delegates of a small detachment of medium format.

G, GX, GH (Mirrorless Micro 4/3 systems)

At the heart of Panasonic, mirrorless cameras of the Micro 4/3 system "play". The current generation of such cameras includes three series:

  • G — cameras of mirrorless design, similar to DSLRs;
  • GX — compact cameras with thin flat cases;
  • GH — pro-tools with an eye on video shooting.

Until about the middle of 2016, there were more of them — the GM and GF lines were "cut out" for the sake of the development of the above-mentioned camera series.

In the expanded naming of all mirrorless brand consoles, DMC (abbreviation of Digital Media Camera) and DC (abbreviation of Digital Camera — in a modern way) also appear.

S (full-frame mirrorless)

The beginning of 2019 was marked by the premiere of Panasonic full-frame mirrorless mirrors, which entered the S league. It involves the basic model S1, a modification with a fullframe sensor of increased resolution S1R, an S1H camera with an emphasis on professional video shooting in resolution up to 6K and the newly minted mirrorless S5.

LX (Premium compacts)

The LX-series is a line of top—end compact Panasonic digital cameras with non-replaceable optics. This includes both advanced cameras with an inch image sensor (model LX15) and charged cameras with a Micro 4/3 sensor (LX100 family compacts).

FZ (ultrasounds)

Compact Panasonic cameras with a wide range of focal lengths, i.e. ultrasounds, are produced under the auspices of the FZ series.

FT (dust- and moisture-proof compacts)

Panasonic has "rolled out" a line of dust-proof, shock-resistant and waterproof FT compacts specifically for outdoor enthusiasts.

TZ (digital compacts)

Compact Panasonic cameras with optical zoom up to 20x and image stabilization are combined in the TZ squad. They are positioned as cameras for tourists and travelers. Some of the modifications of this series for the American market have an alternative marking ZS.

That's it. Have a good shooting!
