Last night, I received, unpacked, set up, and connected the Dali Oberon 5. I replaced my Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 with them (only used in stereo). Signal sources include slimbox (Spotify, YouTube), Dune HD, satellite tuner. Subwoofer Velodyne VX Series 2. AV receiver Pioneer-814. Genres - classical, jazz, rock - Pink Floyd, QVEEN. The room is 18 square meters in an apartment. I'm considering replacing the Pioneer-814 with a Marantz pm6007 or Marantz pm7000n. I am interested in the opinion of specialists. Airiness, detailing. The acoustics provide sound without embellishment, without emphasis on the "presence zone," not trying to impress or create a wow effect, but informatively, clearly, focusing more attention on the macro details in the upper midrange, and with the already mentioned improvements, dynamics have noticeably improved. This once again suggests that the Oberon line responds excellently to higher-class sources, whether it's an amplifier or a DAC, and has significant potential for developing its setup. The high frequencies are "academic": they are detailed, balanced, with instrument separation, and there are no issues with the sustain of the overtones: the overtones create that very "layering" in this range that's worth paying for. If you experiment with the source, you can achieve an excellent result. For instance, with a DAC from NuPrime, based on the SABRE, it produced truly luxurious highs, and the DAC significantly emphasizes this range, adding a sense of air. In general, you need to choose, knowing what you want. I recommend the Dali Oberon 5 as a floor-standing acoustic system for small spaces, especially if there is a challenge with system placement. Continuing. Of course, comparing them to Edifier makes no sense or logic. The only thing these devices share is their general purpose - they reproduce sound. Therefore, this will be a brief description, an attempt to explain what a "truffle tastes like." As I already mentioned, the low-frequency range is articulated and tight, the bass has a good punch and average depth. I should say that I am not fond of the lowest frequencies, I listen to instrumental music where ultra-low frequencies are extremely rare. In classical rock and jazz, they create a delightful foundation for the composition, the bass is informative, quite high in terms of resolution, and I believe if the amplifier were of a higher class (I use them with a Marantz PM 6006), more could be extracted from them. The speed, positioning, and "size" of instruments in this range are excellent, without domination or spilling into the mid-frequency range. The Sevens are more massive in this regard, the bass has more weight, and I would only recommend them for significantly larger spaces. The mid frequencies initially seemed like a weak spot in my setup: either the acoustics pushed them slightly into the background, or the amplifier contributed to the sound picture. I figured it out: when the CEntrance DACportable was used as the DAC-preamp instead of the Marantz digital section, which works on the CS4398, with which I have had no luck in portables, the mid-frequency range became somewhat more interesting.
