I bought this phone solely because of the reviews and the price drop. BUT!!! The screen is the biggest disappointment. All the positive reviews about the screen were written by Google fans. They would even say a TFT matrix in Google phones is "cool!" It would have been better if they installed an IPS display, even if it's still IPS, but a high-quality panel. The iPhone SE has a good IPS screen, and it's a direct competitor. And this model was priced at 350 EUR or even more at the start of sales! Truthfully, it’s not all that bad, but... Everything else is really quite good. This smartphone is the most convenient one among all existing options. The placement of the scanner is not the most successful and not the most modern, but it works 100% of the time - I've not seen better. And I've already gotten used to this scanner. And of course, pure Android. Nice sound, stereo - not superb, but I have no complaints about it. At first glance, due to the material, the phone seems like a toy, especially the blue model. But it is very high-quality and pleasant to the touch. The smartphone makes you not want to put it down. And of course, the cameras. There's nothing more to say - they are simply fantastic! Under any conditions, whether front or main, video or photo - everything turns out great. Autonomy is a "minus" - almost at the same level as iPhones of the 5th - 6th generation. Not even a "4" can be given for such a battery. Although it charges quickly at least. A big "+" is the mini-jack, but it's not very conveniently placed - on top and to the left. But the selfie camera is positioned, in my opinion, exactly where it needs to be. There is NFC - but that doesn't amaze anyone anymore. The E-sim option is present - possibly convenient - we'll see. CAMERAS!!! Decent sound. Not the most convenient scanner (in my opinion), but one of the best. Body quality. Ergonomics at the level of "SUPER convenient"! Display, autonomy. At the same time, the screen cannot be called small. This is a 5.8-inch OLED panel with a resolution of 2340x1080 pixels — so to speak, the golden mean between the most compact and large gadgets.
Almost a flagship
Despite belonging to the middle segment, the smartphone has almost flagship capabilities. First of all, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor in conjunction with 6 GB of RAM gives good performance indicators — you can easily solve work issues, use social networks and instant messengers, and pass the time watching videos or playing games. Built-in memory is also enough — 128 GB, although, unfortunately, there is no slot for expansion. The fingerprint scanner located on the rear panel is responsible for security — it works quite quickly and accurately. But for battery life, it’s worth deducting a point: the battery has a capacity of only 3140 mAh, so you have to charge it daily. Fortunately, 18W fast charging is supported.
In addition, the smartphone received less important, but no less useful options such as an NFC chip, stereo sound and a 3.5 mm jack for wired headphones. At the head of this super squad is the pristine Android without unnecessary frills and with the ability to be among the first to receive major updates.
No man is an island
The model has only two cameras — an 8-megapixel front-facing camera and a main one with a 12.2 MP Sony IMX363 sensor. Nowadays, this is a rarity, even in the low-cost segment, where they try to add more unnecessary modules to devices. Google, on the other hand, goes against the system and once again proves that the number of modules and megapixels is far from the main indicator of photo capabilities. With just one sensor, the Pixel 4a's camera produces great photos and videos with good detail and pleasing colours, even in the evening or at night. It not only gives odds to competitors with the same price tag, but also can compete with the cameras of expensive flagships.
By the way, the manufacturer's assortment also includes a Google Pixel 4a 5G smartphone, which differs, first of all, in 5G support and some other characteristics.
