The high-performance mid-range gaming graphics card of 2021 is based on the Nvidia GA104 GPU (Ampere microarchitecture), which is also used in the more expensive GeForce RTX 3070/3070 Ti models. It stands out from similar models from other manufacturers by using an efficient proprietary 2.5-slot cooling system, Tri Frozr 2, which consists of copper heat pipes with aluminum fins and three Torx Fan 4.0 fans with dual blades that enhance airflow focus (fans stop when idle).
The MSI GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GAMING Z TRIO 8G LHR graphics card is designed for use in mid-range gaming setups with FullHD/WQHD resolution monitors. The GA104 GPU is equipped with 2nd generation RT cores, which allow for the creation of realistic three-dimensional images using Real-Time Ray Tracing with a qualitatively new level of lighting/reflection accuracy. Thanks to the 3rd generation tensor cores, the DLSS scaling technology with deep learning algorithms is implemented, providing a quality result without significant performance drops. In conjunction with a productive CPU, this graphics card will ensure stable and comfortable frame rates in all gaming projects from 2015-2021 at high/maximum settings.

Switched from a GTX 1060 6Gb, purchased for 22k rubles in 2016, which could easily handle all games at 1080p 60FPS on max settings at the time of purchase. This card, together with a Ryzen 2700, scores ~12000 points in 3DMark, which is 2.5 times more than the previous one. The Ryzen 2700 processor is more than enough to fully load the RTX 3060 Ti at 100%. Unfortunately, the RTX 3060 Ti won't allow you to play all modern AAA games in 1080p at 60FPS by simply cranking up the settings to max, turning on the rays and turning off DLSS. In most games, you will have to choose - either turn off RTX or turn on DLSS, and this is, I repeat, at 1080p resolution! For example, in Cyberpunk, be prepared to get 40-50FPS in the city, expect annoying drops to 30FPS in Hellblade, and only Control delivers stable 60FPS. It seems crazy, but in practice, to achieve stable 60FPS with a little headroom in 1080p resolution in AAA games at max graphics settings, with RTX and without DLSS, you need a card no less than an RTX 3080 - you won't hear this in any review. Rays consume about 50% of performance without giving noticeable picture improvement. In some games, they are even broken and drop the framerate to 20FPS while visually adding nothing (see MechWarrior 5), and the only game where rays radically improve graphics is Quake 2 from the last century. RTX 3060 Ti cards in 2021 look much weaker than the GTX 1060 6Gb did in 2016. Even the recommended price of 40k rubles seems overpriced for them. * Support bracket included. Very useful - the card is big and heavy. * Hynix brand memory, which overclocks worse than Samsung. * No BIOS switch (could have added 2-3 for a top-tier lineup). * Crappy MSI software that can't turn off the lighting so it doesn't turn on after a PC reboot. * Poor fan speed management algorithm. The temperature is already 80°C, but fans spin at 45%; temperature drops to 30°C, but fans do not turn off, instead run at 30%. * Noisy when fan speed is above 70%. * Won't fit in a microATX case with a support bracket. You will have to buy another one or DIY modify it. |
Satisfied with the purchase, after a couple of months there are no complaints, the temperature in games doesn't rise above 70 degrees in my small Aero Cool One Mini case; by the way, it barely fit in there, with 3 fans for intake and 3 for exhaust, the card feels great, the bracket for the GPU was included, which is very nice. i managed to grab one at the starting price. It's a 3060 Ti GAMING X TRIO (without LHR). By default, the fan speed is set to the minimum, so it heats up to over 70, while the coolers barely go over 30%. I set it manually. They ramp up to a maximum of 50% with a max temperature of just over 60. Under full load, the coils whine a bit, but otherwise, everything is OK. Silent, Choke squeal ![]() |
