. A versatile lens with fairly traditional characteristics. Designed for Nikon systems with F mounts and full frame sensors. The focal length range is 24-85 mm, aperture — f/2.8 – f/4.0. It does not have an autofocus motor, it is equipped with a “screwdriver” type drive. Aperture — with 9 petals, which provides a soft background blur.

Image Quality:
Do not rely on the F/2.8 aperture. Firstly, it is only available at 24mm, and secondly, at F/2.8 the image at the edges of the frame is quite soft. The Nikon AF 24-85/2.8-4D has distortion, with strong barrel distortion at 24mm and slight pincushion distortion at 85mm. At 24mm and F/2.8, very strong vignetting is noticeable. Interestingly, the lens shows decent sharpness in the center but slightly decreases at 85mm. Overall, the lens is not the sharpest at fully open apertures, but it can't be called "muddy." At 85mm F4.0, you can get decent portraits. Chromatic aberrations are very noticeable at wide angles. The color rendition is normal. The lens is sensitive to backlight. Overall, for a zoom lens, the Nikon AF 24-85/2.8-4D shows normal image quality. However, the new, 'darker' Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-85mm 1:3.5-4.5G ED VR SWM IF Aspherical is noticeably better in terms of image quality.
