I bought it to replace my WR1043ND rev.1. I plugged it in, called the provider, changed the MAC address, but the internet did not appear. Resets, reconfigurations, different connection options - nothing worked. I spent 3 evenings (after work) troubleshooting. On the third day, I connected the system in sequence after the old router, and oh miracle, everything started working. I don't know why MW5 cannot work as the main router, but for now, it works for creating an alternative WiFi network in the house (the old WiFi is still working, but I plan to turn it off). I tend to think that it's a provider issue, but I can't rule out the Mesh system. I also noted the somewhat inconvenient app for setup. Without an internet signal, you cannot configure the system or find out internal settings like the MAC address for WAN, the router's IP address, etc. I don't know why they didn't allow access to the regular web menu from a computer browser via an IP address, but the app for the initial setup is not convenient for me personally. In its defense, the WiFi works perfectly, so I decided not to return the system to the store. I have a channel up to 100 Mbps, and Speedtest shows a speed of 120-130 Mbps through WiFi. Dual band operation
The system broadcasts in two bands: 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. In the first case, the peak data rate threshold is 300 Mbps, in the second — 867 Mbps. The main block of the kit is a small "cube" with dimensions of 93x91x91 mm. On the receiving side of the module, there are two gigabit WAN/LAN and LAN ports. The additional node plugs directly into a 230 V socket and is equipped with a LAN port for wired connection of a desktop computer.
Mobile app
To set up the connection, the user will need to download and install the Tenda Wi-Fi application on the smartphone. It provides intuitive functions for configuring, creating a guest network, parental control settings. Also, new nodes are included in the system through the menu. Their maximum number reaches six, so that a wireless network can be deployed over an area of over 500 m². In a configuration with one signal amplifier, the MESH system works to serve a "square area" of about 300 m².
