Francois Boch and his three sons became its founder. Both companies were engaged in the production of ceramics and sought to bring the creation of their products to an industrial level. So, in 1809, Jean-Francois Boch, a representative of the third generation of factory owners, buys a former Benedictine abbey in the German city of Mettlach and converts it into a fully mechanized factory for the production of dishes. It is in this preserved building that the corporate headquarters of Villeroy & Boch is located today. And in 1836, the companies decide to unite in order to successfully compete in the European market.

Thanks to the quality of its dishes and other ceramic products and the introduction of new materials that were cheaper than porcelain, but no less attractive in appearance, the company is gaining popularity around the world and supplies products to various countries in Europe and America. And in 1899, the company began mass production of bathtubs and toilets, using the most modern technologies for creating ceramic products.

After surviving two world wars, Villeroy & Boch managed to remain Europe's leading manufacturer of ceramic products. The company is constantly growing and expanding its influence, including through the acquisition of other manufacturers. Dishes and products for bathrooms are notable for their well-thought-out appearance, which is often created by well-known designers of world renown.
