PSU powered HDD
PSU powered (external)
— external hard drives (see «Placement«) that require separate power from wall outlet to operate. The power supply is most often built directly into the drive case.On the one hand, this option is less convenient than USB power (see the relevant paragraph), since it requires an outlet to work. However, this drive format also has advantages: they do not depend on the power supplied through the connection connector. In addition, operation from a power supply is the only option for large and capacious models that cannot be powered from the connection connector.
