Support for 3G/4G modems
ASUS RT-AC58U is a rather interesting dual-band router that offers a decent set of features at an affordable price: it is equipped with gigabit LAN ports and one USB 3.0 interface and supports AiRadar technology. Plus, it looks cute and will not scare guests if you put it on the table. At the same time, it is small, which definitely should be written down as an advantage of the model, since manufacturers are often guided by the strange principle “the steeper the router, the larger it should be”. And all this Asus asks for about $80.
Universal model for home
The router belongs to the AC1300 class when four external antennas are used for stable coverage: a pair for the 2.4 GHz band and a pair for the 5 GHz band. In the first case, we have a throughput of 300 Mbps plus an additional 100 Mbps when using equipment that supports TurboQAM technology. In the 5 GHz band, the speed rises to 867 Mbps, which gives a total theoretical Wi-Fi throughput of about 1200 Mbps. In actual use of Wi-Fi, you can count on 150 – 160 Mbps on a 2.4 GHz network and up to 600 Mbps on a 5 GHz network. The numbers are good, but not fantastic. But it is worth praising the implementation of AiRadar technology, which slightly increases the network coverage area and provides a more stable signal. Well, a gigabit LAN port is no longer a luxury, but rather a necessity. And he is here.
Mobile application for setting up in three clicks
As part of the additional functionality, we have the ability to control the bandwidth of SmartQoS, parental control, guest network, VPN. You can connect printers, drives and 3G/4G modems to the USB port. The router also supports work with the proprietary AiCloud cloud and allows you to create an AiDisk server. In general, the feature set is rich and fully exploits the capabilities of USB 3.0. It's not just for connecting an external modem. And the router itself is quite easy to configure using the ASUS Router application. A great alternative for those who are intimidated by multi-page web interfaces.
