An automatic coffee maker can not only simplify the process of making morning coffee, but also do it right. Indeed, for example, espresso differs from ordinary coffee primarily in that during its preparation, water must pass through the coffee powder under a certain pressure, which is almost impossible to achieve without a special coffee machine. Depending on the needs, the modern market offers several different types of coffee makers at once.
The simplest of them is filtration or so-called drip. The principle of operation of such a model is very simple: water is heated to 87-95 °C, passes through a filter filled with ground coffee and the finished coffee enters a special container or cup. Usually, the drink obtained in this way is less saturated. But due to ease of use, compactness and a very affordable price, drip models are very popular.
Another relatively simple option is a geyser coffee maker. Devices of this type provide multiple passage of water or steam through the ground coffee layer, which ultimately allows you to achieve a higher strength of the drink. They are also compact and easy to use, but usually have a very limited water tank capacity.
Espresso coffee makers are somewhat similar to filter coffee makers, but they also have a very significant difference - water passes through coffee under high pressure, which allows you to get real espresso. Models of this type are quite diverse. Depending on the needs, you can get both a fairly simple and compact device, and a multifunctional coffee machine that can prepare a number of other drinks: cappuccino, latte macchiato and others.
In addition to the type of coffee maker itself, the type of coffee it uses is equally important. Most know how to prepare ground coffee, more advanced ones boast a built-in coffee grinder. Also, models created for the preparation of coffee pressed and packaged in pods or capsules are becoming more and more popular, the use of which is most convenient: one capsule - one serving.
When choosing a coffee maker, you need to pay attention to the following technical characteristics: pressure, tank volume, number of cups and a set of additional functions.
The level of pressure developed is especially important in espresso coffee makers, the higher it is, the more saturated the coffee will turn out. The volume of the tank determines how much drink the device can prepare in one session, if we are talking about drip and geyser models, and the number of cups determines how many servings an espresso coffee maker can prepare at the same time.
The presence of additional features increases the usability of the machine. So, the cappuccino maker is a separate tube through which hot steam is supplied - this is necessary for whipping the milk mixture and making cappuccino. The built-in grinder eliminates the need to grind coffee yourself, and many models allow the user to select the degree of grinding. The cup pre-warming system will ensure that the cup temperature is optimal, which is also believed to affect the taste of the drink.
Advanced models boast a control panel with a display and the ability to select the desired strength and temperature of the drink. In turn, expensive drip coffee makers can automatically determine the degree of purity of the water and the level of filter contamination. A cooking timer can be very useful, which automatically starts the machine at the right time and, for example, prepares coffee in the morning, along with the sound of an alarm clock.
