PS5 design

Sir, you have changed faces! This is the first phrase that comes to mind when you see the PS5. Three past generations have taught us to have angular, minimalistic rectangles that are predominantly black. Such as a rule huddled in one of the top drawers of the curbstone. The Five tells us in plain text that everything has changed. Designers painted it white, its appearance became futuristic, roundness replaced sharp corners, and, apparently, you need to put it on a table or floor vertically. Surely in the future there will be other design options, but so far there are no details about this. In addition to the regular PS5, there will also be a Digital version without a disc drive.

Together with the console, a new line of accessories debuted: headphones, a remote control, a dual camera, a charging station for gamepads, and, in fact, the gamepads themselves, which we have already seen in the renders. All devices are made in the same style as the console itself. Naturally, the network has already been filled with memes ridiculing the design. Someone compares the console with a router, someone with a fan or a coffee maker, and someone occasionally mentions the BMW i8 supercar. For example, this is how futuristic it will look in the room of an ordinary gamer.


At the same time, we also recall the technical characteristics that are interesting to compare with the filling of the Xbox Series X. In both cases, 8-core custom-made processors based on the AMD Zen 2 architecture are used, but with different frequencies: the PlayStation 5 GPU contains 36 computing units, runs on frequency up to 2.23 GHz and has a performance of 10.28 teraflops, while the Xbox Series X processor has 52 computing units, operates at a frequency of 1.825 GHz, boasts a performance of 12 teraflops. For comparison, the performance of the top-end NVIDIA RTX 2080 reaches about 10 teraflops. Simply put, both the PS5 and its competitor will be very powerful, on par with today's top gaming PCs.


Prices have not yet been released. It's a pity. Given such a powerful filling, this is even more interesting than headphones and cameras. There are no specifics on the timing either, rumors speak of the end of August, but this is not accurate.

Sony has announced quite a few games, including exclusives (not many yet), old games in a new way (hello, GTA 5), and a bunch of sequels to popular franchises. At first, after the release of the console, about 40 games will be available. We offer you to get acquainted with the most interesting announcements and watch the presented trailers.

The main reason for the jokes was the announcement of GTA 5, which many managed to play on PS3. They promise an extended and improved version of the game, next-gen graphics, new content. But there are no specifics yet. As a bonus to waiting, Rockstar will release a standalone version of GTA Online that will be free on PS5 for the first three months of release.


Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a continuation of the adventure action game Spider-Man, the main character of which was not the usual Peter Parker, but a black teenager Miles Morales. The guy has long been loved by comic book readers, and after a high-profile debut on the big screen in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, viewers want more Miles. True, this will not be a full-fledged second part, but an addition to the original 2018 game, similar in spirit to the spin-off Uncharted: The Lost Legacy about Chloe Fraser. Graphics, of course, promised more beautiful, in order to fully justify the epithet nextgen.


Gran Turismo 7

A continuation of the cult hardcore racing game for those gamers who are not thrilled with the arcade of Need For Speed. It showed not only lively cinematic screensavers, but also fragments of real gameplay. Polyphony Digital studio director Kazunori Yamauchi promised players a huge range of cars, a variety of game modes including GT Simulation Mode, surround sound to better navigate the track, and generally make the game more friendly to new players.


Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

In addition to Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the talented guys from the Insomniac studio unexpectedly showed the trailer for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Apparently, the heroes of the series are waiting for adventures in parallel worlds and a meeting with their own counterparts.


Project Athia

A story-driven role-playing game from sister studio Square Enix, about which there are few specifics yet. The presentation was more vague, talking about "a huge detailed world, in which there is a place for both beautiful and frightening." Judging by the trailer, we are waiting for an adventure game about a magical girl who fights magical monsters and one day she will face a dragon.


returnal

Returnal is a rather ambitious roguelike shooter with horror elements in which levels are randomly generated. The main character of the game is a female astronaut who is stuck on an unnamed planet after her ship crashes. The piquancy of the story is added by the fact that she is stuck not only on this hostile planet, but also in a time loop, as in Groundhog Day or Edge of Tomorrow.


Stray

The cyberpunk adventure game Stray by the French studio Blue Twelve tells about the journey of a stray cat through the city of robots. This description is already enough to wait for Stray almost more than other new products for PS5.


Horizon Forbidden West

Sequel to one of the most successful PS4 exclusives about the post-apocalyptic world, which people have rolled back to an almost primitive state, and mechanical machines run the show. In the second part, people learned how to tame cars, but a new misfortune befell the planet, so Aloy will again have to save everyone. This time, not only in the mountains, among the location we were shown a desert and a flooded city.


Resident Evil 8 Village

The action of the eighth part of the cult horror will unfold a few years after the finale of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Ethan and Mia have already recovered from the events of Biohazard and live a normal life, but then Chris Redfield, well known to fans of the series, appears on the threshold and kills Mia. The action of Resident Evil Village begins when players take on the role of a distraught and broken Ethan, who is trying to figure out what happened and goes to a mysterious snow-covered city, where the main events of Resident Evil Village will take place.


Sackboy A Big Adventure

Little Big Planet is back. Almost. This is an ideological continuation of the platformer about knitted men. There are no details yet.


Deathloop

Deathloop is an unusual indie shooter in which the main character needs to break out of the time loop and stop dying. The project is not the loudest, but the trailer looks pretty crazy and damn stylish.


GhostWire: Tokyo

GhostWire: Tokyo is an action-adventure game set in Tokyo where people suddenly start to disappear. Judging by the video, the main character will have to fight the creatures of otherworldly forces, such as ghosts, monsters and others. On the player's side are guns, fists and magic.


Destruction Allstars

Car racing, the goal of which is not to overtake rivals, but to destroy as many of their cars as possible. Yes, we have already seen this, but here the trick is that drivers, even having lost their car, will be able to continue to crush enemies. Almost like that Rick and Morty episode about interdimensional TV.


Oddworld Soulstorm

Oddworld: Soulstorm is a direct sequel to Oddworld: New 'N' Tasty. Mudokon Abe once nearly fell victim to the Gluckon business machine, but is now a hero in the eyes of many beings. And he again has to save his Mudokon race by going on a dangerous adventure.

The game has already been dubbed "Death Stranding by Capcom". Nothing is clear from the trailer, but obviously nothing good awaits the Earth and we will deal with it.


Demon's Souls

The leaks turned out to be true, Bluepoint Games will release a Demon's Souls remake after all. No details yet, but we're already apprehensive about these cute new gamepads. They will be beaten mercilessly.


Hitman 3

The final part of the adventures of the bald Agent 47. The invisible enemy had the imprudence to open the hunt for the killer and, obviously, will soon become a victim himself. In addition to the cinematic trailer, the developers from IO Interactive showed the first video with the gameplay.
