This model is equipped with a single-cylinder, two-stroke engine running on a 40:1 petrol-oil mixture. With a working volume of 40.1 cm3, the engine develops a power of 1500 W (which is 2.04 hp) and provides a rotation speed of up to 11000 rpm (3100 rpm at idle).
The engine start system is simple and allows you to quickly prepare it for work. The complete 16-inch tyre (400 mm) makes it possible to work with fairly large workpieces and cut down medium-sized trees, followed by sawing the logs into logs. The 3/8" pitch chain moves up to 21 m/s, which gives a decent cutting speed with moderate vibration and moderate kickback. The 390 mL fuel tank provides 35-50 minutes of operation of the AL-KO BKS 4040 saw with light loads. Quality bar and chain
The German-made saw is equipped with a high-quality 400 mm bar and chain from Oregon. 3/8” pitch chain is more for rough jobs like felling trees (0.325 chain can also be supplied). You can freely handle wood up to 750 mm in diameter. The kit comes with two chains at once with a 3/8 pitch. With a saw, it is easy to perform sawing logs, trimming boots and trimming branches.
Does not overheat
The model is equipped with a protective heat-reflecting metal screen (plastic for some models from other manufacturers) in the working area of the muffler, thanks to which the engine does not overheat and, as a result, does not stall during operation. There is also a high-quality carburetor from the Japanese company Walbro. But so that it does not clog, from time to time you need to clean the filter that closes it from the "external" environment. By the way, thanks to quick and easy access to the filter, you can, if necessary, clean and change important components (candle and carburetor) of the device without contacting a service centre. True, finding these spare parts will be quite problematic — only in regional centers or the capital.

The saw has a well-organized anti-vibration system, represented by a side spring on the front handle and a spring at the base on the back. The folding and inertial chain brakes will protect the operator from injury when the saw collides with a metal object.
